Who said he’s choosing to go at 50%?

He’s playing as a forward in a dysfunctional team both on and off field. I know you understand that.

This week he did. What about the rest of the year. He started in the best form of his career and then tapered off. Don't think Voss wants wins to save his career?

He does, his knee looks wonky, he can hardly break out of a trot, has the world on his shoulders and being played out of position.
Reckon we should up the offer to 2 mill due to pain and suffering 🙃

The money part is a given, we use it or lose it.
My initial post was that we should reassess in light of
A) our ruck stocks seem very solid going forward
B) Our midfield is our perennial weakness.
It would be negligent if the recruiters aren't reassessing. Does this mean they would recind the offer? Probably not. Is there a midfielder that would cost no draft capital and is a salary dump? Maybe.
Have we other things in the works that NOBODY here knows about? Definitely.

I know we will spend the money on a good ruckman and will take no joy if it goes **** up. It is a huge gamble in light of our current rucks.
Our current ruck stocks are:

  • 29 (30 at years end) Rowan Marshall having significantly less impact than previous seasons.
  • Boyd (delisted surely)
  • 23 year old max Heath who played his 1st game, in his 5th season. Yet to show he could be a #1 AFL level ruck
  • 19 year old Dodson who just played an unbelievable VFL game. Showing good form. But hasn’t played at AFL level and still has concerns he might jump ship to a basketball career.

Hardly set up for years. There is big concerns if any or all make it behind Rowan and concerns he can reclaim his form of previous years.

Didn't you show the best ruckman in the league were all 30 plus?
And where is this concern about Dodson jumping back to basketball. Do you have a source, have never before heard this.

Yes, I did.

Of which outside of Jackson, TDK is the youngest. So we would have both TDK & Marshall.

That is the reason Dodson slid. Clubs got spooked because he has college scholarships on the table. He was a first round talent in a so called “super draft” that we picked up at pick 53.

A lot have been in the bests for several seasons.

So where is the risk he is going back to basketball apart from not developing in juniors.
Sinclair is in danger of going back to cricket if that's the case.

So if we don’t “contend” until 2027.

Marshall is 32. Where are we going from there? Because the likelihood is his best years are very limited from here and Dodson would still be 21 and raw.

Looks a great decision
Our late picks are all showing signs
Boxshall, Dodson and Said

TDK can sign at Carlton for two and we can then offer him 1.7 as a free agent. Problem solved.

So there was no risk Joffa? Clubs just all passed for no reason.
I have never heard that he is a flight risk back to basketball.
Many players have a basketball background, name any that have thrown over football and gone back to basketball. You a fabricating something just for your argument.
TDK's knee is always strapped, he is obviously at risk of a career ending injury if we are going down making stuff up.

Nas: “I need to see the club is trying everything to improve if I am to sign on again”.

Saints: “Well we have a FA, who was dominating early in the season, keen to come onboard. However some of our fans think he’s not worth the money we’ve offered so we probably won’t go in that direction. Unfortunately no one else wants to come to us. Anyway we’ve got to use it or lose it so I suppose we’ll just give Byrnesy and Cords each a 300% salary increase. They are a couple of our brightest stars and that should stop them being poached.

Anything else you need?

Nas: “Yeah. Can you order me an Uber to Tullamarine?

You forgot...
Saints: Have you seen number 26 play?

Or more mature players know where to stand to limit the best players which comes from experience. Who ever was playing on Gulden should have been making it hard for him. He looked like he was open in space. Someone should have blocked his run. Lot's of mistakes in the back half too.

Just rookie mistakes from young kids. Tauru kicking a high looper to Hill who got run down, a few where all of the backs went to one player leaving others open behind them, all of them coming up with the play leaving three behind them etc.
Giving me PTSD over the Ryder / Robbie Gray moment.
( The curse of a good memory 😱)

Yep, the question is - will Rowan retain his trade value if we hold him for 12 more months?
If we want maximal return, now is probably the time - otherwise it's Jack Steven all over again
100%

We're trading him to ESSENDON?!?!

I just don't get this take. Carlton isn't a great place so on the eve of signing the biggest contract in history he chooses to go at 50%?
Because we’ve already got him committed and he’s trying to stay injury free? Not busting a gut for a team going nowhere and where he has been shifted out of his premier position?
Just surmising.
