Fair, it seems im undervaluing his trade value, i cant imagine a world where anyones first is gonna get offered for him and i would accept a mid range second but thats really personal opinion.

I think you are on the money re Marshall's trade worth - pick #30 or later would be my call. Unless GWS want to do a straight swap for Gruzewski and Aleer that would be fine.

No chance in hell Draper triggers a top 10 compensation pick.

An average ruck currently recovering from an achilles. Not even the AFL is that corrupt.

And there are plenty saying that Battle wasn't worth it either.

Value and length of the contract will be the determining factor.

Fair call but keeping an $800k a year first choice ruckman purely as backup is ridiculous. Heath can do that.

It really boils down to do you think Roma can play as a 70% forward and in the same forward line as King/Sharman etc.

I dont see it and Keeler would be better in the forward backup ruck role even if we did. Thats just an opinion though.
Correct, it's either TDK or Roma, my choice would be to keep Roma and use the money to prize out a midfielder salary dump, however realistically we will pick up TDK no matter what fans think and we will trade Roh this or next year.

Everyone keeps saying we have plenty of room in the cap but is that actually true. If you take 1.7m for TDK, an extra 600K for NWM, 200K for Windy, 250K for Hall, 100K for Keeler keeping Ro must make it tight.
You can't add almost 3m to the cap without freeing up space somewhere else no matter how judicious you have been paying under the cap. I have a suspicion that the reason we haven't signed Windy, Hall etc is because as of now we don't know where the money is coming from.

The may be the case but who else do we have when King is not playing?

Not a reason to keep him imo.

Who knows, maybe he'd look better if he spent some consistent time there.

As much as I rate Ro, I think if TDK comes, it makes more sense to try and grab a first rounder for him and persist with Heath and Dodson.

There is also Keeler who has shown something this year.

I just don't really trust Ro in front of the sticks.

Our forward woes will be lessened if our skills improve. It doesn't matter who is up there with the way we've been kicking the ball for much of the season.

I actually wonder if we got some more games into Heath, how much of an upgrade Ro would be over him or Keeler as a forward.

FWIW, my preference isn't to pay TDK 1.7. Regardless of needing to spend salary cap etc, I think there's a world of potential downside to giving him that contract. It doesn't matter though... it seems to be a reality that he's coming, so that's the hand we're playing with.

& the players wages we’ll unload? Have you factored that in?

Let's be frank, you, I, or anybody has a clue what the state of our cap is.

Salary caps aren’t fixed in terms of payments.

We have forward paid what seems a significant amount of our large deals if our base cap is only 85% of our salary cap and Caroline Wilson claiming we have $3m a year in 2026+27 free.

Dwayne Russell claiming to break the biggest news of the week on SEN at 12:30 today.
Could it be? It is Tuesday.
Or will it be that Max King is retiring and the club will be forced to pay him out within the cap space for the remainder of his deal

Like I don't mean this in a bad way, but aren't the Swans reserves even more tragic than Sandy are?

Dodson looks the goods but need that body of work before I'd be confident throwing him into the regular AFL ruckman bucket.
The old body of work , I think come next pre season Dodson will be miles in front of Moose if he is even still at the club.

If King is playing then Roma (IMO) has no place, wed be too tall and slow with King and Roma and you wouldnt do that JUST so he can ruck 20% of the time when TDK needs a breather.
Not saying this isn't true but Adelaide run Tilthorpe,Fog & Tex & GC run King,Reid & Walter GWS have Hogan,Cadman,Riccardi & the package so it can work

Not Nas, legends game is returning, GAJ, Cyril, our Riewoldt etc all playing for whatever it’s worth.

You think there was that much cream that he fell to pick 53 do you?
people need to remember that geelong picked dodsons understudy with pick 52,clearly clubs were worried about Dodson,i was stomping the floor when we picked boxshall, then cursing the loss of our macrae pick thinking geelong were grabbing him at 52 for sure and certain, couldnt believe our luck he got to us at 53,one of our great draft moments for me

Yeh my whole "trade Roma" thing is entirely dependent on TDK coming (which seems assured).

FWIW if its my unilateral decision, we bail on TDK, Roma stays and we develop Dodson/Keeler to be the ruck/forward pair in Romas retirement (Heath looks a career backup).

Knowing thats not happening, i dont see any point or purpose to keeping Roma AND TDK. $2.5m on Ruckmen (for only one to play) makes absolutely no sense to me.

Give Windy, Hall, Pou an extra $200k a piece from Romas salary.
