Not sure why I'm responding but here goes Lyon made finals first year so didn't go backwards that year & Windy & Hall will both get 3 year deals.

So the first year he finished higher and every year has gone backwards from there? I obviously don't understand the term going backwards.

Jakey, I like that optimism. I agree--no way he doesn't sign with us!

100% Ross knows what he has got. We heard him talk about how NAS has a license do play where he pleases. There would only be a handful of players over Ross career that he would give that license too. He would be doing everything he can to keep him

I noticed how in the Swans game that Nas kept pointing to where other players should go....so Nas could play where he felt best.

FMD you are dramatic. We had a great performance on the weekend, and at this stage the players that have been rumoured to leave (beyond Nas) are expendable. Carry on like a sad campaigner when your fears eventuate.

Losing after leading all day isn't good. Just another depressing result in the worst season we've had since Richo.

Except our last few weeks against a potential GF’list, a top 8 side in Freo and last years GF’list who have won their last 5 games were not shit performances.
Which players do you know are wanting out?
We don’t even know for sure yet that NAS does .

Don't know anything but if you're excited by another crap season you are a more resilient fan than me. I find I hate footy more and more lately. The fact that we are excited by a few promising kids like most clubs expect as an absolute baseline is rather depressing.

Those who think the club has gone downhill since Ross arrived. What would you have done differently?
We had a maxed out salary cap with limited a grade talent and no valuable assets to trade.
Since Ratten left we have turned over half the list with further (and likely final) cuts to happen this offseason.
We have 5 players who at their best, are all Australian level in Wilkie, Sinclair, Higgins, Marshall and Nas.
We have an enormous gap on our list between 23-28 years old but have more talent under 22 than almost every club in the league. We’ve got more cap space to use than any club in the comp.
We are building for a sustained tilt, not a sugar hit. If you can’t see that, you’re only looking for negatives.

It boggles the mind that anyone could think the club does not know how important NAS is to us, and that they don’t think that everything possible would be being done to retain him. I feel sure they know just what he means to us.

But, you know, the player also has a say and the power is in his hands.

You wanted a full rebuild ( albeit it many years ago) well, we’re in it - gathering probably the best group of players we’ve had in a decade.

What’s your option?
Giving up on footy?
I’m not.
Where’s there’s life there’s hope and I cannot live feeling permanently hopeless. Besides most realistic fans would have realised that we would have had to go backwards to go forwards. I forcast a decent improvement next year.

Probably helps that I do realise at the end of day it’s a game and I refuse to give any sports club the keys to my mental heath.

I don’t remember that, and while I regard him as someone who seems to get the goss - which I enjoy reading about - unless he’s in the inner sanctum I doubt he knows absolutely everything, and even if he did, things probably change almost daily.

this is the thing, can't please some....they wanted something, it gets done, it's either not done to their liking or should have been done ages ago....

Nobody has to actually give Ross anything, you can set whatever standard you like.

The clubs given him until 2027, clearly that’s their deadline, no one else has to adhere to it.

I wanted to rebuild through the draft which I think we could have managed at the same time as sitting just off the pack. Never been a fan of bottoming out. We are paying now for all the sins of Trout and Lethers. If we were stacked with guys now in their mid 20s, we'd already be in a natural improvement run.

I'm shitty because we should be better than we are now and we are looking like we are going to cut hard again to buy time instead of trying to improve quickly. You can have too much of a good thing.

The club can't afford to spend 5 years ****ing around again. We need to give a return on investment.

You have no idea how good the kids will be. We have a big pool of youth which should mean a better return than the past efforts but there are no guarantees. Also if we start losing the best players we aren't going to get better.

I don't understand why Nas would care. If he wants to go home, it's exceedingly rare that it doesn't get done, with one club generally being on the receiving end
