I think they know how to Math mate and if they offered this money knowing TDK & Aleer are coming + signing nas etc then they knew how to fit the guy in.

Outside of that, I couldn’t care about who gets paid what in what year and for how long.

If it became an issue, I’d kick that can when it did.
I hope to god your wife does your household budget.

Any combination of those three guys as two would have made them the highest paid combination of ANY two players in the league… by about $400k. Not just in a single team, the whole league and you’re hand waving it away with some “front or back” end it.

There’s no ****ing way the Rowell talk was real, it can’t have been, even without Aleer (who at $750 a year is the least of our problems in that scenario)

You jumping up and down saying is impossible doesn’t make that real either.

Let’s move on now

We have enough money for Aleer on $750k, Nas on whatever he wants, TDK on $1.8m AND Rowell (understanding he’s not coming) on $2m, none of these deals were or are at the expense of the other.
And how do you know this, serious question

What do you think “how he looks” means?

That’s perception, not how he actually is.

My post defended him as a captain but noted how he is viewed (which is something that’s been discussion by saints and non saints a like).
Ok.

Probably not that important to get into a back and forth about.
It’s Friday. Haven’t got the energy 🤣

Okay ill put it another way for you.

If our top 11 players are getting $11,300,000 (NAS, TDK, Rowell plus the 8) and our 35 OTHER players get $300k each (which id note is $160k UNDER the league average done to generously account for the top end being so ****ing disproportionate) our TPP is $21.8m.

So you think we can front or back end our way out of what equates to a nearly $7m a year hole ($4m in 2027 when the TPP increases).

Bruv, it cannot be done, i dont care how ****ing creative you get with the books.

Anyway, ive made my point, if anyone still seriously thinks we offered Rowell $2m a year head to that NAS thread on the main board, youll fit right in.

Well the Pres said before the year started that not only would we be only paying 95% of the TPP this year, the only way we were getting that close was by front ending existing contracts and any incoming new contracts.

TPP has gone up by $2M this year alone - I think we have the readies.

Byrnes and Jones back in?

If Port and Adelaide are paying 2mill a year the trade will have to be in relevant value to that money.
FWIW both don't have the capital to make it happen and NAS seems happy at the saints.
Contract of 2 mill a year and 2 mill front loaded for 2 years, as suggested by littlecreatures , is a different thing though. If I’m understanding it correctly.

Thanks for the two paragraphs but you can shove the last one where the sun don't shine 😀

We’d need a Melbourne Storm set of books by the sounds of it.

Correct. 100%.

But how else do they get the capital to do a trade?

Players could be traded to other clubs and then those draft picks are transferred to Saints. That is also another option.

But clubs that don’t have the necessary draft picks are limited in their options.
They don't it's nigh impossible and there is no way through the PSD.

I have said it previously it's impossible this year even if he wanted too ( unless Curtain / Butters / Berry / Bergman not withstanding can be convinced to move from a player and club perspective ). The SA clubs have 2 years to try to get their ducks in a row while we will be hoping 2 years of good performance and NAS maturing another couple of years can convince him to stay.

I cant speak for the crows but the port supporters have essentially said hands off any player even remotely valuable from Vic in that Nas thread.

The overwhelming sentiment from saints fans is they dont have the draft capital alone (thats both)
Well, going by the recent Port poster, we “don’t deserve him” so we should just hand him over for nothing, I guess 🙄

Your maths is all wrong. You're using averages not the median totals.

We have selected 14 players in the draft in the last 2 years (1/3 of the total list) - the most any of them can earn is about $160k a year and most of them earning less than $130k. So 1 huge salary = 14 players

So take out those outliers and you are left with us spending $14M on 30 players - and that ends up with players earning the league average.

Only if you then assume that the remaining players are all worth the league average (which accounts for the rookie salaries given it’s about $460k which would be the average between $100k minimum and the $600-$800k guys).

I also roughly accounted for the top end guys by dropping the average salary down to $300k (not the $460k actual leave average).

You’re also not at all accounting for any of those guys getting increases at all, which was really my point.

You can tweak the numbers around in increments and the hole might reduce a touch but no team can account for the three highest contracts in the league.

Maybe we can get those three but something else has to give, we either lose a stack of the kids or a fair chunk of the mid range guys.

It’s the Carlton list problem only about 10 times worse.

Still 2mill

Don't you want to pay NAS 2.5 mill?
