I'm seeing plenty from Hastie as well.

Can take an intercept mark, but can also run and carry the football. Tidy up the kicking, get more of the footy, be a decent lockdown on opponent and we got an excellent player on our hands.

So be more skillful, be more attacking, and be a better defender and he'll be excellent at footy....

The bloke is 19 and has played 11 games with 7 of them starting as the sub.

So he has plenty going for him considering the stage of his development he is at

Carlton have painted themselves into a corner through irresponsible contracts and made them unable to make up the short fall with ready made talent. Cost them a sustained period at the top and wasted a generation.

They went nuts overpaying for B grade talent to get them at a similar point to us. You only see the painful outcome after 5 years when things get tight. Most list managers will be on a beach somewhere long gone.

...or managing the list of other clubs a few years less developed that you can use to buy up some of the players of your old clubs on the cheap.

So he doesn't need those things, he already has them, he just needs more consistency, which is fair to expect develops with more game time. I was probably being a bit contrary to make the point, but I think he has those traits as well.

My brother is a similarly strong advocate for Hastie, so it's good to see numerous independent opinions based on the eye test - if you watch him and know footy, you can see has natural ability.
