So if we did participate in the mid-season draft , who should we target . I'm having trouble getting excited about anyone.

Not sure how much Saints history you're across but uhhh... we're losers.
And we've managed that by playing safe. Drafting "good characters". Working to appease players vs changing the culture...
We sacked Lovett before his case went to trial.
We didn't recruit Ben Cousins.
We sacked Watters because the players didn't like him.
We didn't trade for Dusty because of his reputation.
We didn't draft Petracca, in part, because of his FIGJAM attitude.
The Saints recent history has very much been built on "playing it safe".
Given the way player acquisition works these days: NGA, FS, Big Clubs, Big Games... Teams like ours need to find every shortcut we can to try and climb back up the ladder.
If we brought in JUH and he ****ed up and got sacked, so be it. We wasted a year or two, gave up a list spot, and we're no better off.
If it works though, the upside is huge.
All that said; I think JUH ends up at the Swans or Lions and makes an amazing recovery to help them sit in the top 4 for another 5+ years.
5And how many players who should go in the first 10 will be unavailable to us due to their parentage or geographical location?
The one that keeps failing to produce in Finals and is likely not to play in one this year ... you mean that Butters?Yes thats him, the Butters that was AA 2023 &2024
Yeah the Butters that won the AFL coaches award 23 and the AFL players most courageous award as well, along with 2 B&Fs. To go with the 2 AA jacketsThe one that keeps failing to produce in Finals and is likely not to play in one this year ... you mean that Butters?

This is such a dumb argument lmao, Butters is and will be a starThe one that keeps failing to produce in Finals and is likely not to play in one this year ... you mean that Butters?
56 brownlow votes in the last 2 years and people are saying he's overrated lmaoThis is such a dumb argument lmao, Butters is and will be a star
No we don't? Heath and Dodson playing forward tells the storyYeah , but we already have 2 VFL level forwards. How many do we want?
Youre talking about RozeeThe one that keeps failing to produce in Finals and is likely not to play in one this year ... you mean that Butters?
Caminiti as a forward, was a pre-season supplementary pick and Sharman was a mid season pick.No we don't? Heath and Dodson playing forward tells the story
We need someone to cover for King alongside Sharman and Owens
I think Sharman is a B-grade forward when the rest of the team is working. His hands and set shot are lethalCaminiti as a forward, was a pre-season supplementary pick and Sharman was a mid season pick.
I'm pretty happy with both, but are you really likely to find someone significantly better with this sort of rookie pick?
Has excess consonants in his name.I was just having a look at the Coates League games on the weekend. A kid who I was surprised didnt get a rookie spot at last years draft is playing as a 19yo and having a pretty good year. Gabriel Stumpf 196cms plays as a mobile key forward, he might be one worth looking at in the MSD is we open a list spot.

Paddy McCartin would get a game for usCharlie McCartins stats for Geelong VFL look pretty good. 193cm so not huge but wonder if he'd get a game for us?
If he could still play then definitely, he was actually a bloody good backman.Paddy McCartin would get a game for us
