Was huge speculation mid year last year (reported by every journo) about Rowan wanting to leave and I’ve had the same info in the last few weeks that he asked similar to Jack Steven to leave.

Happy for Dodson to partner a ruck. Just don’t think you throw what you’ve planned out the window because a 19 year old has a mega game in the VFL

But, he's stringing through a few good games recently and as you said gun rucks take years so he is progressing ahead of schedule

I get that and if you go back through my post history I was desperate for us to land Dodson last year in the draft thread.

Point is still that rucks take years to develop. Their job is all about physicality. Take Heath for example, drafted in 2021, finally got a game in 2025.

If we aren't playing regular finals before 3 years Basset and the board need to fall on their sword.

And get rid of the players too? There are many reasons why we aren’t challenging. Single front and centre is that our senior players are now C graders that have regresses from B+. They have all gone backwards.
Steele, Marshall, Butler, Hill, Wood, Higgins. Even Sincs is looking less of a player.
The kids are holding the team up.
So getting rid of the board does nothing to change that space. Depressing I know but we need some stability somewhere or just close the club.

Nank, Cameron (especially in his flag year) and Fort/Oscar are exactly what Roma, Heath and plenty of others are talking about. Honest triers who are good around the ground.

They’re all also worth, at most, a million bucks a year.

Isn’t collingwood right now baulking at Cameron demanding more money (which I think is actually a million a year)?

I get TDK is supposedly a unicorn etc etc. but I think the primary argument is that ruckmen don’t have the sort of influence of a gun mid or kpp. Find someone who can split a contest and take a few intercept marks and your good.

For the record we’re clearly getting TDK and it’s fine, I don’t really care but the gun ruckman being the piece to push you over the top for a flag is quite clearly the exception, not the rule. Grundys grand final v Darcy ****ing Fort is exactly the point.

I have been saying this for a month re Dodson. It’s not one week. Anyone who knows about football and wat he’s him for more then a quarter can see. Also this his first game as the only ruck.
