As far as tap are concerned I dont think Roma is any better than Stanley. They were both good when they could use their leap and until the changed the rucking rules a couple of years ago. Now its all about strength and holding their opponents away from the ball, which neither possess.

Again I think moving on Marshall would be the wrong way to go, whilst Max King remains so unpredictable.
Give me Stanley any day, leap, pace and versatility. We just traded him away and then did what with pick 20 I think ?.

A second rounder for someone they identified as a great prospect. Yes a complete f*** up.
Can you imagine what we could be doing with that 1.7 mill if we had Xerri?
I can't actually. What would we do?

Didn't we also give up a second round pick for Nathan Freeman? Exact same scenario

Hugh Goddard from memory
I know he had injury problems including turf toe I believe but he was glacial.

It’s funny but some of these kids who are keys at under 16 and the first year at under 18’s have a growth spurt and loose the agility to play as keys at afl level

Goddard looked like that, hemley going back to post plugger was going to be a star and just grew out too much. We have all the luck, we nether have a kid who grows from a flanker into a Nate fife, it’s usually gun junior to bust with us.

Use your imagination zoomer. And you are right, Nathan Freeman went on to be one of the best ruckman in the league. FMD 🙄
Your argument is that the club identified a 'great prospect' and screwed up because they didnt pay up

Except they did for Freeman, who ended up a massive bust

Both Freeman and Xerri were terribly injury-prone before we approached them

Its the same thing, whether they're a ruckman or a midfielder. It's just hindsight almost 3 years later

And on the 1.7m. We offered Rowell 2m and he rejected it. We offered Callaghan 1.7m and he rejected. LDU 1.7m rejected. Merrett 1.5m rejected. Brayshaw 1m+ rejected. McCluggage 1m+ rejected. Even Stengle at 800k rejected. So what are we to spend it on?

We must make sure we finish below Carlton on the ladder. Otherwise our pick will be pushed back even further with the TDK compo..

If NAS goes, Josh Lindsay may actually become a need (yes a half back flanker lol). With Sinclair closer to the end then the Start, we will probably lack an elite ball distributor off half back, more then we need more midfield talent..

When is SOS actually going to get Keeler, Hall, Windy to sign?

Don’t understand this waiting till NAS has signed stuff - good to lock the other players in.

Still think Angus Hastie can be that guy.

Garbage, Freeman had a chronic hamstring and could never run harder than 80%. Got a charity game. Xerri is now one of the best rucks in the league.

So what about being rejected. Plenty of salary fumps to choose from and more come up during trade time.
Try harder champ.
The club ****ed up and a real opportunity missed, but keep cucking for the club.

He snapped his achilles which basically killed his career right then.

I am for the TDK acquisition. But a bit of due diligence required about the potential of a long term injury. We have been here before.

Problem is, there seems to be no one else to give that suitcase of money we have saved without giving up draft capital. Which we don’t want to do.

This would be the time for pick buying to be introduced. But it won’t be. Our timing could be off again.

Idk how hard it is for a damaged larynx to fully recover

But since most of the worries about the deal have been about his slump in form, shouldn't this just make acquiring him even more enticing? The fact that there is a medical reason that he has dropped from borderline AA form to where he's at now?
Due diligence, anyone?

You’d need to be getting a thorough medical checkup and professional advice before even thinking about spending that kind of money on a supposedly fully fit player - but now, even more so.

How come this is only coming out now and from Barret of all people?

Not taking credit as a few other pre season track watchers pre season we singing the praises of young Dodson. Not so much the rucking, but looked liked a highly skilled, balanced and intelligent footballer.

Am really getting concerned with the TDK offer, we could have a Xerri on our hands and could be lumbered with a high risk bust.

I would seriously reconsider the TDK offer. Could easily use the money on a salary dump for Oliver or Walsh and up the offer to NAZ by 500k a year for the next t two years.

Keep Marshall and allow Heath and Dodson to continue their development

I understand why they went for TDK, but we could really regret this in 3 or four years.

I really think they need to reassess their position re the offer.
We can up the offer on naz for what ever we want. Tdk money is irrelevant

TDK is not the answer going off his last 12 weeks. Is worse than Boyd
If you have that much money on the line and all you had to do was stay injury free would you have shit for brains like oscar Allen or would you be smarter about it.

He is 19!!

Best rucks in the league.

Cameron 29
Gawn 33
Xerri 26
Marshall 29
TDK 25
Meek 27
English 27
Darcy 27 (twin rucks)
Jackson (twin rucks his entire career)
Nankervis 30
Grundy 31

(Taken from AFL app)

All are mature big men. Multiple pre seasons etc. Jackson the one outlier - who has never rucked a season on his own and carried his side to contention. Been apart of twin ruck set ups successfully
I can't even see Dodson playing a full season right regardless of form. His body would be cooked. Ruck is one of the hardest positions to play.
