Only if you then assume that the remaining players are all worth the league average (which accounts for the rookie salaries given it’s about $460k which would be the average between $100k minimum and the $600-$800k guys).

I also roughly accounted for the top end guys by dropping the average salary down to $300k (not the $460k actual leave average).

You’re also not at all accounting for any of those guys getting increases at all, which was really my point.

You can tweak the numbers around in increments and the hole might reduce a touch but no team can account for the three highest contracts in the league.

Maybe we can get those three but something else has to give, we either lose a stack of the kids or a fair chunk of the mid range guys.

It’s the Carlton list problem only about 10 times worse.
Can't see how or where we have or will have the 3 highest paid players in the league.

Yep some players salary will go up but some well paid players will go down or disappear completely.

And that doesn't take into account the several $M we have down the back of the couch.

No way are we in the same space as Carlton.

Maybe marshall and Steele?
Yeh I mean my point was that you’re either losing a stack of your kids when they want a bump or a decent chunk of your mid/good players.

… really?

TDK @ $1.7m
Rowell @ $2m
NAS @ 1.5m

Would all be paid more than Tom Lynch ($1.45m in 2024)

I cant speak for the crows but the port supporters have essentially said hands off any player even remotely valuable from Vic in that Nas thread.

The overwhelming sentiment from saints fans is they dont have the draft capital alone (thats both)
That’s because they lack any kind of mental agility let alone the perspective to see their players other than elite superstars. Fortunately they are not part of the actual conversation.

There's only 2 scenarios I'll be happy with for Nas. He stays or Butters.

I think if he does go it'll be something close to Berry + 2 future firsts though.

Rekon we definitely ask for Berry. We tried to trade back in for him last year.

Berry + Sinn + change maybe??

Depends on whether they want Keeler and Windy as well. Maybe we can get some of the Butters deal...

Nas, Windy and Keeler?
Wash your mouth out! Sheesh.

+ change better be their 26 first.

The suggestion of that made me puke in my mouth

That would be the worst deal in history. Berry + Sinn should be the change

Also Sinn just re-signed too so if he was available then Bergman surely would be too

Wash your mouth out! Sheesh.

Nas is supposedly leaving because we won't pay his mates so I assume they will all ask for trades together because of how horrifically unhappy they are at the Saints.

Yeah apparently people at the club think he's a unique character

Probably one of those really locked in individuals. Maybe like the primary school teacher's pet

Not a bad thing tho
This season would have been incredibly difficult for him, by all accounts a really professional self-driven young man. One thing for sure, we’re not going to die wondering with him.
Fingers crossed he has a really good comeback next season. Not sure of his injury was due to over training or not, but hopefully the club is onto him about not overdoing it.

Rowell signed 3 weeks ago - not sure why he's still being included in any conversation.

But if Rowell was absolutely the player we wanted the most and he agreed to sign with us - then we would be quite within our rights to walk away from any other players we may have been chasing in order to fit within the salary cap.

All offers are there until they aren't.

Managers know it players know it.

Yeh I’m not the one who said we could have all three with no issues though.
