Eddie would have stayed for an extra 50k. Our 625k contract to Daisy didn't stop us from offering that.
I got told at the time by someone in the know that Eddie's manager made a right rude prick of himself in a meeting with Carlton management, as result Carlton pulled their offer and walked out of the meeting. Eddie said he would take the offer, they said "too late, blame your manager" and that was the end of it.

Had everything to do with Betts.

The obscene amount of money spent on Thomas left nothing for Betts. The no compo was just the turd flavoured cherry on top.
Not to mention that we were sold a lemon.
Daisy's Ankle was cooked before he even arrived and Pies were glad to get him off the books.
Mick probably said "Come here and put your feet up for a while"

That makes sense - Winter also manages McGovern. He scared the sh1t out of us the first time, we are held to ransom now.....

Just spitballing as always but with the names rumoured to be on the trade table I thought I'd fill in some time. Had heard a lot about Chesser's month of reincarnation so went back to check out all the tape today and holy crap he can play. Coming from a long way back after injury but he's got plenty of talent if he can stay on the park.

Unfortunately with us likely finishing 11th after what should be a comfortable win vs the Bombers we'll end up with a compo pick right in line with a Dean bid so I can only assume we'll be looking at trading it out for players.

Would love a better small forward option to fill that gap than Ryan and Rosas but there's absolutely bugger all out there.

Out
TDK > Band 1 Compo (Pick 9)

How are you drafting Dean, Ison and Clark when you’ve traded away all our picks?

Also go wash you typing fingers… Frankie Evans ain’t no sub!

In that scenario we'd still be left with

Pick 27
Pick 32
Pick 34
Pick 53

Gets us about 1300 points which would cover most of the Dean and Ison bids depending on where they come in. Clark will be at best a rookie, if he's drafted at all.

Weitering looks at #33 he doesn't see Lewis Young. He sees NotJones. This is the issue.
Interesting. Listening to Weitering's interview on 3AW (2:56m mark) Jacob praises Young. I have witnessed positive interactions on game day between the two on more than one occasion.
Now I would go as far as to say that this season Youngy has improved relations with Weiters.

Somebody mentioned the possibility of trading up. If West Coast are still intent on drafting locally, the TDK and JSOS compos might not a Farrow and Rodriguez... Can throw in Mitch McGovern.

I thought you didn't want us to finish last next year?

We ignored the medicals, our own fault
Carlton supported and paid Daisy a bundle while his Ankle healed with little return.

Daisy finally has a reasonably good season ... and when we start seeing a return on our huge Investment ... Daisy decides to pull the plug and retire.
It's like carrying a Player and supporting them through their ordeal ... and when they finally come good ... decide to leave and play for another Club. Thanks for the ride $$$ (Joe Daniher at *?)

Imho Carlton are 7 Players short of being a Top 4 genuine contender

2 x A-grade mids (need backup)
2 x defenders
2 x small forwards
1 x fast winger

ps. Not interested in poaching Players from battlers like North or West Coast unless they are leaving anyway

Losing TDK and SOS puts us 2 more genuine AFL players down.

That's 9 we have to find. We need to do some heavy trading but small tweaks aren't going to do it. We have to find some players who can kick and who have leg speed.

I think we're after Oli Florent which is a bit of a worry for me. Not a big fan.

But he's a nice kick usually so that may be the attraction.

Whatever we get in compensation has to be traded and we need Harry Dean and we will have to trade forward some of next year's picks. We need a LOT of trades + mature ages + draftees who are ready to go.

That’s not what happened…..

He had a good final season but went out on his terms as he knew his body was done…

Liam Ryan apparently to the saints.

Two Eagles, GC fringe player, Swans player struggling to get a game, a Demons role player and a Crows KPD who's been average so far...

Similar to Dennis Pagan recruiting @ end of 2003...
Was George Hewett a good pick up? Or because he was on the outer and playing tagging roles at the Swans automatically mean he's a spud?

Plenty of players who would do better in different sides whether they're at a top club or bottom one.

Kennedy was considered a 'fringe' player by most oppo supporters last year because he was sub a bunch of times. Look how he's going in a different system.

So Florent the only one with potential to be a decent pick up...

For every success story you can come up with regarding this type of recruitment... I can come up with 10 failures...

Ross the Boss aiming at becoming 'Coach of the Year' in 2026.. with Premiership potential.
It's getting serious at the Aints ... especially if they land our TDK.

B_F .. I can come up with 10 failures...

Let's kick off with Daisy
