With Jaspa Fletcher's progression this season along with Wilmot, Starcevich and more academy kids, is he gettable?

Yep. Make this guy captain for next year and they will follow him. As I said in another thread, he's a born leader.

Give him the captaincy next year. Consumate professional, fantastic leader, wants to win badly. Plus a good age where he can hold some authority over the older players but still not be viewed as unreachable by the younger ones. Also frees some weight off of Crippa's shoulders and allow him to play more freely as he winds down his career.

Even if he is, thanks but no thanks. Absolute weapon and exactly what we need but we can't afford to take on more injury prone players. 2 games in the last 2 years isn't great, especially when he was supposed to be back playing a while ago.

we need to get our culture and club mentality right. That is our biggest issue at this minute.

I agree only a close second would be

• sharper hand and foot passing skills
• Goal accuracy
• Sharper Awareness/reflex training
• Decision making
• 1% ers

Do footballers use Simulators for personal training/improvement?
eg: Awareness / reflex / decision making
Players need to improve their Footy IQ

Lord and Walsh are good examples of poor awareness and slow reaction
Motlop's responses are untrained, random and clumsy ... not well drilled and precise. Also gives away a lot of frees

The best culture, Camaraderie, effort and attitude won't get you a Premiership if you are slow and have poor skills.
Carlton need more than faster leg speed ... they need quicker/sharper thinking processes.

Francis Evans is the number 1 ranked general forward in the AFL the last 5 weeks. I’d give him a 3-4 year deal and repay him. His ground ball work last night was insane. And he’s a dead eye in front of goal. Love him.

Tom's dilemma is should he do what he wants or make the decision to please others.

I love that he said that he spent lots of time with Jagga Smith and Ben Camporeale and that they are both really keen to get at it and set standards.

I have a feeling Walshy has had a little glimpse into our future midfield, and he is keen to lead this young group of players coming through.

I'm sure we can but I wouldn't, not because I don't want TdK to stay but because we must stick to our salary structures and adhere to the rankings. This is important for team culture and morale.

Sure, I get that. It just sucks for culture that a guy who wants to stay cant and I guy who wants out gets his way. I'd imagine TDK wouldnt want the full clip from Carlton, just bridge the gap a little and he'll stay.

What to do with Walsh is the interesting thing, is OOC at end of next year but we couldn't possibly offer him a long term big money deal whilst so many questions around his back/body remain but could risk him walking out the door if we dont tie it up soon.

I agree he's been great since he came in and has improved a lot...but it's a small body of work...you don't throw around 4 year contracts like that. Exactly what's got us into some strife in recent times.

I definitely want him to stay, and he deserves a contract. But at this point in his career, 2 years would be about right I would think.

I hope in future we can take less notice of people pushing toxic narratives about the players and club. Was taken at face value and derailed a lot of conversation this year.

ACL then into leg (think it was a quad) on the return through the VFL.

Would do our due diligence for assessment (can usually be the overcompensating of the ACL/recovery) but he’s only not playing due to unavailability through injury.

Would certainly look at him and tailor a fitness program for him but he wouldn’t come cheap in a trade (which we have limited capital).

I’d let him enjoy next year without the captaincy burden - consistency & growth is all we need from Sam - IMHO.

Crippa is the perfect captain - I’d leave it with him for a while yet.

Pretty sure Crippa has been saying stuff like that his entire career.

1yr contract to further assess.
He’s been great at the tailend & has been finally slotting his goals.
Still not a certainty for next season but what a redemption (likely why he was selected in the SSP).
I’d be getting him in the sprint training in the off-season.
