Havent they both had contracts in front of them for months that they didnt sign?
It was speculated we started Jack's negotiations in late June...make of that what you will. If its an UFA you want to keep I'd probably fire up discussions earlier.

TDK...I don't know what our offer is or when it was tabled. I'll say one thing for the Saints - they knew they had to go hard and go early to get this done.

Kemp Moir and Khamis are all more 3rd tall types, and aside from Williams at times none of the others have consistently provided a good link between the midfield and forward line. Unless the situation is truly untenable I’m really hoping we keep him

Moir Id consider a medium forward more than a tall.

This reads to me as a VFL and train-on opportunity, and it's normal that we hear about a few of these this time of year.

He's not worth more at this stage.

It comes down to price and opportunity, because he's competing with Moir, Kemp, McKay, and Curnow for a spot.

Good forward craft, works against and off body contact well, but doesn't really deliver to his fellow forwards well. Short FF with a bit of pluck but not stellar pace.

McGovern still in the mix for us as well and may be more cost effective and impactful in our forward and defensive mix.

We tried that.

Moir isn't a good link player? What?

Kemp had plenty of drive from half-back, but didn't really get a chance to get expansive in his forward role early in the season.

I think the club will invest in giving him stoppage looks in 2026.
McGovern won’t be playing for us next year and I’d say 95% Curnow won’t be either.

Gruzewski would be a very very good pick up for us

I’m originally from Warrnambool (JUH neck of the woods). Trust me, he is not worth the headache

O'Keefe shown enough to deserve to be on the Primary list IMHO. Now would be the time to give him a 3 or 4 year contract at a fair wage.

Evans also deserves to be elevated.
We want to free up as many slots for draft and free agency as possible. If a player can stay on the rookie list and not hurt our rookie pre-selections, they stay on the rookie list.

Evans seems as good a candidate to elevate as any due to the nature of the TPP discounts for rookies being a fixed number.
Has done absolutely nothing for years now, only consider as an afterthought if we're shipping a lot of small forwards out.

Sydney will not entertain trades for Gulden or Warner, and winding up with pick 2 is not what we want in this draft. Dean bid aside, we'd want 2-4 picks in the 6-25 range (including all expected bids).

Ison will hopefully go later than 21.

Charleson is on the rookie list? Were you originally planning to re-rookie him?

Khamis for a 4th would be huge, but that's not how the Dogs roll.

Flanders is a good one touch player who reads things well defensively in midfield, especially in close, and gets his arms free, but I feel we can and should get his output out of Walsh and Cerra, and hopefully Lord. We need something different.

We're not having a firesale, start telling your Google app to give you different news.

Last year was the year to do that, not now.

What you’re obviously hoping for and reality seem 2 different things.

Happy to have this conversation with you after trade week
I don't care what is being leaked from exit interviews, Sydney either do not have or will not part with anything worth making that happen.

If we're kicking off a deeper rebuild now we're in for a shock.

Not sure the probability for Curnow is that high at all.
Unless there is a outstanding offer highly unlikely it will happen, we would be crazy to carve in unless quality players or high picks are on the table.

It's funny how this is the overwhelming toe the line narrative now.

Like the current coach and assistants - who are mostly still there - didn't just let this playing group become what they are now.

Not against cleaning house and setting standards of this list or any list - it has to happen after it was left alone to get this far down the line. Just saying.... Gonna be great when the next group end up the same and another 10 years has disappeared because now instead of acting 'too carlton' we act like a snail afraid someone with 3 brain cells on the media will call us 'old carlton'.

There are players there who have been doing this to several coachs now. And the attitude of "it's too hard" spreads and infects new players entering the club.

If you are so confident what do you consider a realistic trade that would make it happen, Sydney won’t release their high end players so difficult to see it happening?
No idea, but I’m sure it will get done. It still can get easily done without those top 4 players. Most likely a multi team trade

You may be right, but l see it playing out similar to Petracca last year, don't see Wright carving in and doing a deal for the sake of it.
Regardless of how many clubs involved someone has to give up something of quality, questionable at his age someone will do this.
