Match to get what though? We have had two teams match, mostly because the compo was quite a bit less than what they could get in a trade. So i mostly agree they will match, but if history is anything to go by, a trade gets done and its not crazy.

If they think he is gone, is it better to try get picks and players in now or do you delay it by a year?

No they aren’t. The standards are set by the heads of the football department, ie. Coaches. The leaders enforce it and are aligned to it. If they don’t know any better, then there are no standards.

If anyone doesn’t understand that, then they haven’t been part of a football club.

Admittedly im only partially watching tonight’s game and watched a bit of last nights match and im asking myself, where are we getting the players for us to leap frog 4-5 teams above us?

All our trade/darft stuff is focused on Dean and Ison who even if both turn out good players, dont seem to be the types that we are missing to elevate the side, all the players we are linked to are once again from the bargain bin.

Admittedly im only partially watching tonight’s game and watched a bit of last nights match and im asking myself, where are we getting the players for us to leap frog 4-5 teams above us?

All our trade/darft stuff is focused on Dean and Ison who even if both turn out good players, dont seem to be the types that we are missing to elevate the side, all the players we are linked to are once again from the bargain bin.

Where are we getting a Max Holmes, Zac Bailey, Cam Rayner, Darcy Wilmot, Toby Greene, Dangerfield, C Cameron types.

We aren't.

The difference makers are walking out the door.

We're 100% in a rebuild. The quicker everyone gets on the same page the better.

He was being honest on how the playing group felt. They were in premiership mode and felt they didn’t have the resources to get through the year. You can’t blame the group if they didn’t have confidence in the process. It should have been finalised when raised, instead it was ignored.

You could tell the players had no confidence in the system, depth and even themselves after the Adelaide game. The revolving door at selection was a farce and only changed in the last month, when instructed by above!

Blaming the players alone is an easy out.

I love Doc but he hasn’t been best 22 for quite some time time.
Salt of the earth panic merchant. Rushing him back last year was a mistake and symbolic of the lack of good decision making which has wreaked havoc for years.

Agree. This is what people need to understand.
You can’t blame the playing group, if that is all they know and haven’t been pulled in line or setup correctly for success.
Hopefully Wright is setting the culture but it’s embarrassing that it’s taken this long and after so many coaches we still aren’t near it.

Think about this - the payers took it into their own hands for half a year and got us to a Prelim. So no guidelines from above, just let them do what they want, when they want, and how they want. Farce of-field leadership - hopefully is getting fixed now!

Looks to me that internally, GW knows where this list is at... no point going after any of those types:

1. Why would they want to leave to join us?
2. With the loss of TDK + Jack and potentially Charlie, plus the obvious decline of our senior core, we are going to be a worse side next year.. best to focus on the future and rebuild.

The time will come when we should be chasing those types... if we play our cards right, it'll come soon...
