We need to bring in Longmire and bring in a running half back with a good disposal and should be good for a crack at Top 4.

You have 6 players in that starting 18 that need to be replaced for us to be anywhere near top 8 let alone top 4.

Yep. 6 at close to or around $1m each.

Docherty*, Saad, Williams, Hewett's new contract, Cerra on a bit less but still significant money.

Pittonet and Acres probably at above average salaries too.

Everybody else seemingly fighting for crumbs.

Anybody coming into the club and looking at that is going to be in for a rude awakening.

Despite some people thinking otherwise, not every other team is so out of alignment as that. It's too much of a long tail. It's why our 15-30-ish ranked players look poor compared to the premiership contenders.

At least there's some really good quality youth coming through.
If you go off pure media talk, Saads contract was $600,000-$650,000, Cerras contract was reported as similar.

Hewett as a free agent got Sydney band 4 compo as his deal was reported at only $400,000, I’m sure his new deal is improved though.

Acres left Fremantle as the deal they offered was low to the point that he said they clearly don’t want me, this doesn’t mean he’s not getting paid well here but I can’t imagine he’s on big $$$

Williams however has always been reported at $900,000 and then it makes me wonder if our big earners are all on more than $1M, we all assume $1M but who knows.

So they are paying 2 players 17.5% of the cap in 2026?
All I have to say to them is šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
They have 3 years of saved salary cap that needs to be spent. At a guess, I’d say they have approx 2 plus million that they will spend in 2026 that won’t go against their 2026 salary cap. It maybe more like 7.5% (if that) they will spend from their 2026 cap for the 2 players in 2026

It’s gotta go somewhere

If I remember correctly freo offered acres 2 years at 180k think we offered 360k

100%. Pre season they were all good. Sadly, by even after Richmond game cracks emerged and quickly.

As I said some just have personal agendas and I am not interested
It’s a sad indictment on our players that these switches can be turned off & on in quarters of footy.

ā€˜23 Q2 vs GCFC šŸ“ˆ
ā€˜24 Q2 vs GWS šŸ“‰
ā€˜25 Q2 mid-way vs RFC šŸ“‰

Seriously, where is the leadership and the will to get over the line for their desire to be a premiership contender..
The big $ boys don’t pull through for their earn as leaders of this football club (any unrest should have been dealt with by their leadership off-field to unite and performances on-field).

No one complained about Motlop when he was kicking important goals in the SF in 2023.

The ability is there. It's all in the head.
The head isn’t helping him to make space from contests or avoid being tackled. Never seen such regularity of this - frustrating ASF to see game in, game out.
Trade bait if there’s a market.

Too my eye, he needs to just slow it all down a fraction. I think he rushes everything he does and either falls over, fluffs the disposal, runs into trouble, or fumbles. He gets to the right spots and creates opportunities, just lacks a bit of composure and I feel like if it slowed down just that little bit, composure will come along with better outcomes for him.
Composure & execution, components lacking across the board @ CFC, unfortunately

Acres came over cheap then re-signed last June when we were flying and he had that impressive finals series in 2023 so had proven important. He had done enough for a small jump in pay. Likewise Hewett re-signed when he was doing very well too.

600-650k is still a couple of hundred thousand over the average salary meaning you need to factor in another lesser paid player to accommodate it.

2 or 3 lesser paid players for the mammoth contracts and 1 for those in that above average but not top earner status.

It accounts for why we have so many kids, a few cheap veterans (Fantasia, Evans, Cincotta) and massive drop off from our mid range players to our best

Teams in the top 4 have a ton of kids too but they have a lot more in that mid range than we do. When your stars have a really down year that's the layer of players you need to step up and it's paper thin. Top 4 trams stars can be down and they still find a way.

I have the attributes of several AFL footballers...

Levi Casboult's goal kicking
Caleb Daniel's height (almost)
Mickey Nolan's physique
Caleb Marchbank's durability
Toby Greene's maturity
Lance Whitnall's nutritional habits
Kane Lucas's clearance work
Get hold of the pics and you’ll score yourself a 5 year contract

Apparently Nick Haynes has been vocal lately about lack of structure and game style. We practice things so much less than they did at GWS

Be great to hear more of his opinion and differences
Hmmmmm
Not surprising then from an average season..
Hansen was supposedly our new tactical input....has his input been not correctly setup...it seems stale
Plus assistants panel will probably be restocked to some extent soon(Kade simpson)
Voss is a solid media man..he has done a lot of courses and has experience but I find him to just go through the motions on his talks.....i do not know how deep he coaches or how or if he has genuine concept vision of how to turn this group around...in 2023 the cfc palyer group got together mid season and decided to attack the season....that was them and not so much the coach...credit due
If Voss keeps on being a bit sloppy.....his remaining supporters may surely question his actual guidance.....but I tend to think again its the management setup as well.....hes probably under achieving a bit reflected by team stats
Weak spread out of midfield
Efficiency weak
Tackle count average
Russell departed and now says not good things.....

Its just all a bit sloppy.....board,assistants,coach,some players....
Not A grade club....is there passion to truly excel?.......

If Voss eventually departs it has to be for an upgrade only...Carlton doesn't have good record of sourcing achievers of late
Longmire as coach...however he may be uninterested as most are in Carlton.....for some obvious reasons

The playing group seem to ā€œlose trustā€ very quickly, how long do you you reckon before the same thing happens with the next coach?

IMO, there needs to be a bomb dropped underneath this playing group and I’m all in on investigating ways to do this

2024 we lost our one wood contested game quite alarmingly but on the flip side we became a top quadrant turnover team that scored with ease. That doesn’t happen without tinkering of the game plan, just doesn’t.

I think the plan was to reestablish the contested game which is in and around the coalface at stoppages, which really shouldn’t affect the turnover game in open play.

So, we’ve had a focus on defense, then layered on a very clear focus on the contest, then tried to layer on a focus on the turnover game and this year was most likely trying to mesh all those phases of the game together.

The players have failed dismally, and now they’ve lost ā€œtrust".
This is a bigger problem than the coach in my opinion. Has been a common theme since the latest rebuild started.
