Top 6Where do we finish next year then?
Easily bottom 4-6
I'll buy you a big footy membership if we finish top 6.Top 6

Like us, they have some highly promising kids who will have a year behind them. I expect improvement from them, but it is hard to quantify. They absolutely need a midfield upgrade for the rise to be significant, but they have (fitness pending) plenty of players at each end and around the periphery who will improve them.Wtf would Essendon improve drastically?

As much as I love to rag on them, not having 80% of their list out injured will certainly lead to some level of improvement.Wtf would Essendon improve drastically?
Granted they’ve had injuries but a lot of their players are b and c graders at best.As much as I love to rag on them, not having 80% of their list out injured will certainly lead to some level of improvement.

List and locked in picks are choc full of candidates, need midfield and small forward spark. No hope of winning a flag unless we get ourselves a pair of quality half back flankers
Other than Newman I don't trust many down back to genuinely hit damaging targets and get a lot of the ball.List and locked in picks are choc full of candidates, need midfield and small forward spark.
Some of that can come from within (eg. Kemp, Moir), but there's a fair chunk of players on the outer at contending clubs that suit our needs.
Ideally while retaining TDK and Jack, at least forcing a trade for TDK.
The spark up forward could be in our draft range in Mitch marsh.Kingy and Dunstall summing it up perfectly post game.
No hope of winning a flag unless we get ourselves a pair of quality half back flankers who can really run and deliver the footy and another spark up forward.
I'd add to that replacing Acres, loved him in 2022-2024 but fear his body has taken a big enough beating that his physical play no longer outweigh his poor disposal.
Not going to have the currency to pull out a Bailey Dale so Austin is going to have to do some serious moneyball work with role players and on the outer players who can make an impact.
Lachie Cowan - Jacob Weitering - Nick HaynesTop 6?

We need a ruck, a CHB, a wing, half a dozen blokes that can kick, and to sort our mess of small forwards.
Possibly, but I'd back in Kemp to have similar impact to Marsh early days. Not sure he'll be in our sights (very promising talent though). The spark up forward could be in our draft range in Mitch marsh.
Needs more TankLachie Cowan - Jacob Weitering - Nick Haynes

I pretty much see it like this. The question marks could be filled internally by some promising kids like Wilson, Carroll, Lucas, Dean etc but with the club clearly stating that we're going to be targeting speed and runners in over the off season I'd imagine we'll be looking to bring in some mature options and hope if the youngsters come on in leaps and bounds that at least they're there as depth options.
Loved what I've seen from Frank but I'm being a bit conservative simply because the first half of the year he stunk.Needs more Tank
The Boyd one is such a strange one for me. Arguably our best kicking talent but stuck in the twos just plodding about with seemingly no real consideration to select him.Huge offseason coming.
I'm not sure what currency we will use to improve.
TDK looks gone which gives us Pick 9. We need to trade that for an established player, but get some points back to pay for Harry Dean.
McGovern and Acres look gone, but we won't get much for them and we need more tall defensive depth. Maybe trade them for youngsters not getting games at other clubs, but fit a need for us.
Lemmey is in trouble. Boyd is in trouble. Fantasia is in trouble. Cincotta is in trouble.
Silvagni will leave. Maybe that's where the Dean pick will come from.
We have 46 players currently. The above plus Doc takes us to 37.
It’s an interesting one because Geelong and Adelaide seem to make do, Humphries come from nowhere, even Hawthorn without Weddle manage more with talls.Other than Newman I don't trust many down back to genuinely hit damaging targets and get a lot of the ball.
Cowan, Carroll and Wilson all show promise but imo if we want to be contending in the next couple years we need to address that with a mature ager or two down there.
Josh Lindsay is still on the wishlist but finishing 11th will mean thats incredibly unlikely with the TDK compo.
Would also love to see Cow tried on ball over the pre season, I think he has all the traits to be a gun inside mid similar to that of Sam Durham. Just a physical beast around the contest and can spread and close space well. Love to see it at least tried.
Our contract situation is officially 'up the shit'.The Boyd one is such a strange one for me. Arguably our best kicking talent but stuck in the twos just plodding about with seemingly no real consideration to select him.
Contracted for next year could keep him around an extra year, I sort of wonder if he's just a victim of trying to get more games into Carroll, Wilson and Cowan late this year?
Feel like he's played some excellent footy with us over the years despite having some flaws as a half backer.
