Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
he's a luxury at Geelong. he wasn't at us because of our depth. Geelong gave him time and we rushed it with him
depends how early that pick is - if it gets us something before Dean F/S and we retain TDK/JSOS compo picks I would certainly consider itThat’s way unders.
Hello - I come in peace etc.
I shared this hypothetical on our board, was interested in your thoughts.
Just spit balling and trying to gauge perceived value.
Disclaimer of course that I am aware you aren't keen to trade Charlie and that he is a ****ing gun.
Give
WC - Pick 1 or 2* + Haw R1 + Chesser (if he's Carlton bound, if not, Haw R3)
GC - Walter + Pick 7
Carlton - Curnow + Acres (a friend for Owies!)
Get
WC - Walter + Pick 7 + Acres
GC - Curnow
Carlton - Pick 1 or 2* + Haw R1 + Chesser (or Haw R3)
Who says no?
Walter to WCE as a WA boy and a known Eagles nuffie - someone our fans have always had an eye on.
The Pick 1 or 2 depends who Carlton are keen on - and ideally it syncs with who WCE are keen on - say Carlton want Dursmaa and WCE are into Sharpe (or whoever, I am no draft expert).
GC motivated to sell the Pick 7 obviously but Carlton don't want something in that range due to the Harry Dean bids. I get that the Hawthorn R1 might be a sticking point - might require a bit more to make that part work.
Thoughts?
Again, not trying to incite a riot, just ideas.

Nick Haynes wasn’t young. We’ve been bringing in only young guys over the last 2 offseason and will again this year, eye has been on the future in the shadows and publically a different message.
I don’t think anyone in the back rooms are talking different strategies at all
We say no.
We're not trading Charlie for picks.
I have said the list is poor for 3 years & faced criticism. Note my debates with Arrow. I have banged on that Austin needs to be replaced for 12 to 24months. I am comfortable in drawing attention to the fact my judgement was correctOur list is woeful. With the exits we have already out the door we are clearly in a rebuild. If we can get Walter and another 1-2 solid players in for Charlie somehow we have to do it. This team is miles from a premiership.
We have so many rookie type players and plodders on our list we are in a world of hurt. Guys like Duffy, Monahan, Binns, campo boys, Boyd.. the list goes on… half our list is young and untried and have come to the club not highly rated at all. Guys like Cooper Lord, Flynn young, will white are mid season or top up players that were holding out hope on. We’ll be lucky if 1 of this crop makes it to 100 games. There’s 15 players plus that remain on the list that I have no confidence that they will add any value at all let alone be part of a premiership winning club.
We have a tough few years ahead and we need to get in front of it in the next 2 drafts and trade periods before Tasmania comes in.
When you look at this with clear eyes it wouldn’t surprise me if the club has sat Charlie down and said would you be happy to give us a chop out if the deal is in our favour.

Don’t think GCFC are motivated to sell pick#7, they’ll need them all + some for their Academy matching..Hello - I come in peace etc.

Basically thats pick 1 and late first rounder for CharlieFair - it would be a big roll of the dice.
Holding Pick 1 or 2 could land you something else though obviously.
Not sure who is realistic in your frame as experience?
Melbourne would a few worth a sniff I would imagine and they are just about ready to start again you would think.
Are we expecting any more delistings?
Yep, made a preliminary in 2023, since then over the past 2 years have lost (or potentially losing):Just because the list has underachieved does not mean it was poor, or that you were correct.
Yep and that was what Cook told my friend at a function 6 months ago. I put it in the rumours thread - which is strange as it wasn't a rumour, it was straight from the Cooks mouth. "We are at least 2-5 years away"Nick Haynes wasn’t young.
Given the way we have run senior players into the ground over the last two years chasing wins I simply don’t agree at all.
Are you telling me going into 2024 the club thought it wasn’t good enough to win a flag?
Dishing out massive salaries & assets to acquire one player when we have a number of holes to fill ensures we have a top heavy list & limitated capacity to fill gaps. (We've gone through this over the past few years)And our list will never get better if we keep getting B grade talent like Flanders, butters will not take 2 million he wants to get home to Victoria for family reasons and I think will go to which ever club can seriously make it happen
With our track record they need to do a lot more to be backed inGuess the Chesser haters will have to back in the recruiting team now. Looks set to become a Blue
we absolutely need depth. The right kind.Dishing out massive salaries & assets to acquire one player when we have a number of holes to fill ensures we have a top heavy list & limitated capacity to fill gaps. (We've gone through this over the past few years)
FWIW Scotland & Simpson were B-graders, we could do with a few more solid contributors of their ilk.. it's also why Newman's absence & Acres decline were so noticeable too.
He said we need more depth of talent, not more top line talent. But Graham Wright is on record as saying we need more top line talent.

What have we got, 2yrs?Kempy![]()
