We literally brought in three small forward's last season.
We have never prioritised this position since Eddie Betts & Jeffie Garlett left whilst Hawthorn traded in Ginnivan and used pick 5 on Watson, Brisbane took Rayner at pick 1 as a fwd/mid, Lohman with pick 20 and gave up pick 12 for Charlie Cameron, Cats bought in and developed Stengle and Pies have always had multiple small forward options. WE have always had this belief that we could pinch the diamond in the rough from the rookie draft to solve our small forward problem and its no coincidence we have the league's worst bunch of small forwards.

That has nothing to do with Motlop.
I wanted Rankine instead of Walsh because like many I thought they are incredibly underrated.
So obviously there's no need to tie up players of questionable fit on multi year deals then..
Humour me, who are the 3 crumbers?
So let your most likely small forward go so you can take another long shot?
I’d love to know one “crumber” as talented as Motlop we should target?

It does as an overall list management decision where we are stuck with Motlop who is a very ordinary small forward but is probably still our best. Plenty of players have been delisted with better records than Jesse 4 years in.

We should be offering Motlop no more than 2 years on minimum chips, perhaps with a trigger and incentives.. If someone else wants to offer him more then we wish him well.

No, nor did I actually say that.
I questioned the benefit a multi-year deal, which I believe, we had also given to Fogarty & Durdin.

You'd love to know a player capable of replacing his ~10 possessions & >1 goal a game?
Seems like a low bar tbh.

Again, who were the 3 crumbers?

2yrs is too much. 1yr and assess - assuming we don’t afford to carry players through poor form in 2026. Motlop, Acres, McGovern examples of too long without demotion.

There appears limited interest in Jesse for any trade/s. MIN chips definitely with incentives (docked every time he’s wrapped up or stalls play).

Do you think he stays on a one year contract?
I was talking three small forwards rather than a pure crumber.

Who would you bring in who is a better crumber than Motlop? I’d love to know because I’m actually shocked we aren’t chasing them, with or without Motlop on our list.

Which I imagine happened and he had better offers elsewhere. We just made the choice of paying him abit more rather than using a late pick trying to replace him while still having to give them two years.

They reckon Charlies preferences in order are Geelong, GC and Sydney.

Lets stop topping up Geelong please. They cant have everyone. They have nothing we want or need. Sick of them buying premierships.

GC i could accept as they have many options for us. Plus we dont need to see him in Victoria.

Same applies with Hawthorn. Refuse to trade with them unless they’re getting royally reamed.

I'd prefer to get Eddie back in a coaching role, even if it's only part time.

The question I have is - who is teaching them the small forward craft? Durds had his best year in 2022 after spending a year with Eddie, and has fallen away since. Motlop had a bit of a purple patch the end of 2013 and not much else.

What the **** would Jordan Russell know about teaching the 'art' of a small forward?

Also averaged 3.6 tackles a game, 1.4 clearances and 0.4 Goal Assists.

But clearly he is not the finished article after just 1 full preseason and about 60 games.
