It wouldn't surprise me if we were able to get another prospect before a Dean bid, as is.
Yeah - the phantom drafts closer to draft night will be very interesting. Will start reflecting the expected choices/needs of clubs as opposed to just the order of best talent

Listening to davies this morning, I think we will be looking for a KPD as a DFA as we missed on khamis
Kallan Dawson (NM)
Sam Frost (HAW)
Jacob Blight (RIC)
Aaron Francis (SYD)
Charlie Dean (COL)

There's a few cheap (albeit kind of crappy) options out there. I'd much rather just rotate Dean and Young through as the second tall for now rather than recruit another list clogger. We're going to be short but that's only going to really present a problem against a few teams

Could we see pick swaps with Essendon to move up the order? 9 and 11 for 5 and 21? Guarantee us a kid before Dean and use 21 plus the balance of other picks on Dean.

We'd just want to play it safe and tee it up with Essendon to be done on draft night. Wouldn't want to pull that trigger and then have Richmond drop a cheeky bid on Dean with their Pick 4 (which will likely be Pick 7 once the GC and Brissy bids are completed).

If they're happy to make the swap, just have an in principle agreement, wait til they're on the clock with that Pick 5 (8) and then pull the trigger on the trade.

We just need cover for Young and Weitering. Hopefully we don't need them to play AFL but we need injury cover, not a best 23 player.

Blight is the only one of interest there.
Someone has mentioned he’s Collingwood bound however.

Frosty, maybe but we’d be well old down back with Haynes, NN, Saad as defenders.

Edit: would have a look at ex-STK Schoenmakers. Prob more a 3rd tall but 194cm. Left foot roost!

Out of all the afl teams this off season who is likely to improve their list and thus their performance.

Improvers:
Saint Kilda
Brisbane
Gold Coast
Carlton
GWS
Sydney

Stationary:
Fremantle
North
West Coast
Adelaide
Port
Geelong
Dogs
Richmond
Collingwood

Going backwards:
Melbourne
Hawthorn
Essendon
Unfortunately Freo are likely in the 1st bracket of improvers. McVee is a good get.

I'd have carlton and gws as stationary

I think we wont move our picks until closer to the draft. We'll want to get a better idea of where bids will fall plus future of f/s rules.

Agree

Two options. We trade up for Top 4-5 pick or we have deal in place to move picks on night if Dean gets called out prior to 9 or 11

I just can’t see us going to draft with 9 & 11 and getting Dean & Ison and we don’t want to use these picks on a F/S when we have points later

Elijah is a watch. Feel is he is gone. Badly burnt some bridges but also has a few players strongly pushing for him to get another chance.

Be very interesting with what we are trying to achieve how this plays out
Any idea on other delistings? Could we see any other early payouts?

I am hoping we keep Elijah Hollands. With the proviso that he is there to save his AFL career.

He either repairs his trade value and gets us something or he is offered a very short and mediocre contract by us and will not be offered a substantial contract for his career if he remains. By that I mean a 1 year extension or a two year contract that is front loaded where he is easily paid out if need be.

Next year could be Walker and no second or third round pick so incoming talent could be reduced in numbers for us a little.

I think it's good list management to keep him then trade him or sign him on a short contract. Ts and Cs apply.

What's everyone's preferences - trying to trade down lower to get another kid ahead of Dean, or another (or better) first rounder for 2026?
Trade picks 9, 11 and both 2027 first round picks to west coast and receive picks 2, 13, 34 and 41

Enough to draft Robey and match a bid at pick 7.

Delist him and invite to pre season training

What about looking at Ethan Phillips. Performed admirably in the backline for our VFL. Couple of games was bog taking a doz or more intercepting marks.
