I don't buy this. He has 1 contested mark in 25 AFL games. If it was an AFL standard skill he had we'd have seen some examples by now even running round in the midfield. But a 190cm 21 year old with strong hands…some team out there would trial that as a deep forward option.
Tbh I think 80 games into Erasmus doesn't work in two ways.I don't buy this. He has 1 contested mark in 25 AFL games. If it was an AFL standard skill he had we'd have seen some examples by now even running round in the midfield.
For those playing at home he took 2 contested marks in the WAFL last year.
Everyone needs to face facts he ain't making it as anything other than a midfield role player. Even that seems less likely than likely to me without pretty significant improvement in his positioning and composure ball in hand (the last being the hardest to improve).
It'll be 80 games before we'll know if he can do that and how are supposed to get that many into him without compromising our structures?

Marking is listed in his draft profile as a strength. Also says leading patterns and scoreboard impact.

To be honest developing his forward craft and contested marking might be the best thing any club could do for him right now and I agree he could easily do it. He's very sturdy in a contest, well balanced, so it seems to be one of the more natural things to develop. But a 190cm 21 year old with strong hands…some team out there would trial that as a deep forward option.
Connor Blakely 2.0 ?I don't buy this. He has 1 contested mark in 25 AFL games. If it was an AFL standard skill he had we'd have seen some examples by now even running round in the midfield.

We’re all right for talls. Not worth it.Is Jamarra worth a punt..understand we have a no dxxkhead policy now in place.. but have we learnt anything from the Hogan stuff up.. is it time to reward ourselves with a recruitment win based on our outstanding culture and turn Jamarra around
That Balta guy from Richmond goes alright, might be worth a punt if we're going down the fully dickhead route. Is Jamarra worth a punt..understand we have a no dxxkhead policy now in place.. but have we learnt anything from the Hogan stuff up.. is it time to reward ourselves with a recruitment win based on our outstanding culture and turn Jamarra around
The games played is misleading, how many times as the sub?To be honest developing his forward craft and contested marking might be the best thing any club could do for him right now and I agree he could easily do it. Hell, it could even benefit him as a tagger if that's a future calling. Taggers that can win their own pill and push forward to hit the scoreboard are by far an away the most effective ones. I certainly wouldn't have his papers stamped that's for sure. There's a lot more to work with with Erasmus than there are lot of other fringe players.
I’ve been an advocate for Ras and thought it was a little harsh that he was dropped after the round 3 Eagles game. However JOM is ahead of him and for good reason. JOM is 32 next year and I see no reason why he wouldn’t get another season. The games played is misleading, how many times as the sub?
How can anyone think that he offers very little, because the coach won’t back him?
Then you have JOM who is 32 next year, and the demise of Fyfe over the last few
years.
Who will be our next contested 187-191cm Bull?
Serong, Brayshaw, Young, will need someone to sacrifice their game for the team.
Nullify the oppositions best player, and get in and under, especially if we can rotate
more players midfield.
Attacking players that can play midfield, Johnson, Bolton, Jackson, Reid, Simpson.
The fact is we need Erasmus, you don’t get that flair without someone applying the
muscle.
Fyfe doesn’t dominate without someone having his back, pretty sure Young will be
targeted because of his offensive skills.
Freo are winning at the moment against other 8-18 ladder teams, but once the pressure
goes up, ie finals type physicality?
If people are happy with a team full of downhill skiers, it’s why Voss in only a short time
has lead the charge.
Odds are higher that he becomes a meth addict than a pro footballer at this point. Is Jamarra worth a punt..understand we have a no dxxkhead policy now in place.. but have we learnt anything from the Hogan stuff up.. is it time to reward ourselves with a recruitment win based on our outstanding culture and turn Jamarra around
Ouchhhhh! That was scything humour (or reprimand, however you wish to spin it); dripping from a blowtorch blast of caustic eyeroll. I think it went over most people's heads, or...they chose to ignore it cos' you can't align yourself with anything "controversial" these days. That Balta guy from Richmond goes alright, might be worth a punt if we're going down the fully dickhead route.
Good lord, who even has time to concoct such things?!?! P*sser thoughStolen off Facebook but it's worth a laugh or two.
It doesn't have to have been made up, they could just be wrong. They are amateurs afterall. Both his underage and draft year were COVID compromised as well. They had less info to go on than normal. Hell we got the current equal leading goalscorer in the rookie draft for the same reasons.Marking is listed in his draft profile as a strength. Also says leading patterns and scoreboard impact. I will admit it is hard to understand where that all comes from, but they don't just make something like that up. Maybe they put too much emphasis on dominating against PSA schoolkids.
Even forward our list looks flush with Voss providing excellent depth, Nicholls quite exciting with his speed, and Riddle a potential forward/ruck. Jones likely delisted I guess? There’s been suggestions Nicholls could go back too. Think we try him forward first but it’s still a possibility.
7 west media Perth would roast him from day 1 all the way through to retirement. Is Jamarra worth a punt..understand we have a no dxxkhead policy now in place.. but have we learnt anything from the Hogan stuff up.. is it time to reward ourselves with a recruitment win based on our outstanding culture and turn Jamarra around
I think a few teams will ask the question of Voss this year. He's better than depth in my opinion.
