Tasmania having to trade out those minidraft picks as well as those six first round picks will make for an active 2027 period.

But the real scandals will start when a club that finished last loses a band one free agent and ends up with pick #2 and pick #4

Good luck convincing 6 guys to go to Tassie.........

Yeah we end up with a top 6 pick, then we start talking about a second round to add to it for Pickett.
Make it a future second.
We should then be able to clean up Whan easily with the picks we have.

Before the bye I could see us dropping all three games.
Giants away
Port home
Gold Coast away.
Bye

After the bye we have a three game stretch that we should win, all at home.
Norf (away game but at Optus)
Essendon Home
Saints home.

After that I have only the derby where I can be semi confident of a win.

Sydney away
Hawks at home
Collingwood away
Eagles at home
Carlton at home
Port away
Brisbane at home
Bulldogs away.

Let’s say we lose the next three.
Then win the three after the bye.
That gives us 7 wins before the last stretch. Add the Eagles. 8 wins.

We may jag another one or two.
At best ten wins.

Can easily see us with pick 6-8.
Giving up pick 6 for Kozzie Pickett makes me vomit TBH.
It’s WAY too much I reckon.

Izak Rankine was traded for pick 5 and he’s a much better and more consistent player than Kozzie.
Surely if it’s a pick inside 10 or 11 that we end up with, there won’t be a second round pick also attached?
If it’s pick 6 we should be getting something in return from the Dees if anything.

Again it sickens me that other clubs get good players cheaply in trade and we have to pay an arm and a leg for guys that are high quality but notoriously inconsistent.

Are we brave enough to trade a future first for Kozzie if end up with a top 7 pick this year?

Only way to stop it is to stop trading for contracted players, even then I don't faith they'll be strong in negotiations given they gave everything they had for Jackson.

Worth remembering Rankine actually wasnt the star he is now when leaving GC though. Pick 6 for Kozzie is a perfectly good deal given his age and career to date.

Rodriguez has slipped to 14.
No Whan in the top 20, but based on this comment I don't think he is far away.

The likes of Toby Whan and Hunter Wright are relatively well-rounded midfielders who are knocking on the door with their early-season feats. West Coast NGA prospect Koby Evans is another who could soon rise, while Carlton-tied talent Jack Ison is sure to impress as he builds back towards his best post-injury.

That would the dream wouldn't it.

Watching Geelong get Smith for a late first than slid to 25, has me dreaming of doing the same thing to other clubs.

It will be more than that. They can take 18 players who are out of contract for no picks traded at all. So these would be players in contract or the second player onwards from a team taken by Tasmania.

They've got $1.8m to spend of out side the cap money, they'll find their players.

They just might also have the likes of Sharrod Wellingham traded for a top fifteen pick too.

Freo should hold onto Sean Darcy for two more seasons and if it isn't working, sell him to Tasmania for two top fifteen picks and everyone wins.

Tasmania will need a mature body ruck or their teenage mids surrounding Oliver and Warner will get bashed up.

If he actually makes it onto the park

Tassie won't cough up that much for a player who never plays

Look at all those lovely academy players in the top 10 to push down our picks.

My actual hope is that Fremantle enjoy Darcy on the park because selling him at all means we won't see value from him and we give another club that chance to have the "value" bar lower due to the cheap price they paid.

Even if it takes until this time next year for him to be fully fit after a full preaseason, we will be better for him.

The most we can hope for is his knees get better and he plays consistently for us.

At the moment he can't even keep up with his opponent

They’ll ask for our 1st and F1 , why wouldn’t they ?

They know we’ll fold

Trade with Freo

Win prizes

I feel like we need a Josh Dunkley type trade. We are missing a big body mid who is accountable runs all day and the is on the cusp is of an A grade.

I’d happily put all of Darcy, Switta and Cox on the table and see if that can get us some capital. But I don’t see any viable targets out there.

We are also too tall and slow in defence if Cox stays we can’t play Draper. Although personally I’d do that swap.

We need another Clark back there, so Simpson stays to see if he can do that. The Warner, Ryan, Cox combo is way too slow don’t play those three together.
You know who can be Josh Dunkley, the midfield defender? Erasmus. Simple. Problem solved

Need to actually give him a proper run at it - tell him he's got at least 3 full games starting in the midfield prior to the bye, but he's probably on a hiding to nothing with us up against gws/port/gc.. or maybe it will be the making of him.

Tassie will just downgrade those picks and pickup decent mature bodied players if they can't attract big names

Eg 7 for player and 9

Satisfies the AFL and gives them some early leadership

In both years, the current rules explained to clubs would see the Devils be forced to trade the fixed pick No.5s, and retain the pick No.9s.

But there has been further possible riders added to the trading rules, including that Tasmania cannot receive more than 40 per cent Draft Value Index level on one of their assigned 'trade picks'.

They'll have to wear quite the discount to do that. The rest of the competition will be able to squeeze Tasmania for value from the AFL issued extra picks here with that max of 40% value coming back in picks requirement.

“WA is an unbelievable to place to be when you’re 18, 19, like it’s a great party and these Perth boys go back at 22 and all their mates have sort of grown up a bit,”

“There’s so many people that got a trade back to WA and then came back, not mentioning one that potentially could be coming back soon ... let’s hope.” - Max Gawn
