Wild theory but do you think it's possible they began the Jackson to Melbourne rumours in an attempt to renegotiate what was a heavily front ended contract that then kick started Jackson's private life becoming far too public? Knowing who McDougall worked with and their relationship with the club, it isn't a long stretch for me.
Yeah that's my cope tooI wouldn't mind betting that after being scorned, McDougall is again pushing this narrative with journos as retribution.

Melbourne have just played this so all of our bargaining power with Kozzie is gone. They can happily sit back now and say "Jackson or nothing" for Kozzie
I actually reckon this just means neither Jackson nor Kozzie will be traded this year
Yes, it does appear he was stirring the pot, don't love it either.Ask Max, he's the one fanning the flames. He's your Captain yeah?

Jackson turns into superman playing us, but I've seen too much self satisfaction to be frothing at his return. I also carry a grudge from 2022.Yeah okay buddy.
We all know you're frothing at the prospect of Jackson returning. You know that we know that you know what he's worth so why even trot out the damaged goods line?
Nah, going back to Dover is enough hope/cope for me. Back to where I was before Quarterbrains article. Something there (obviously), no guarantee to even request a tradeDover is by far a better player manager than any CSA guy. He'll say the right things now to get the spotlight off Jackson and his personal life but I think there's too much smoke now for a trade request to not eventuate.
No Dover just chose his words very carefully to imply one thing but if you dig deeper it actually doesn't guarantee anything (I can't get my hopes up again)Nah, going back to Dover is enough hope/cope for me. I remember when people mocked me for this "pr stunt"."pr stunt". lol, way too many egos on this board, honestly. Mitch Cleary did absolutely nothing wrong, never said Jackson wanted out, used his words very well. Mitch is also one of very few good journalists in this sport and knows interstate lists quite well.
Melbourne aren't desperate either, they're just trying to better themselves, which is what every sporting club does. This isn't some petty move because of Kozzie, that's just nuffie mindset.
They weren't mocking you for the pr stunt.I remember when people mocked me for this "pr stunt".
Or the nuffies saying "if you believe this, I have a bridge to sell you".
Those same people are now freaking out.
Go figure.
Less egos, more commonsense.
Like I said months ago, Mitch Cleary doesn't make this s**t up, he's very good and uses his words wisely.
They were actually, but I'll play along. Why?They weren't mocking you for the pr stunt.
I think the NGA makes it easier. You get to have your cake and eat it too. Whan is looking legit and may force our hand on trading this years first anyway. Robinson looked pretty impressive in his only couple of Colts games and still seems the consensus best WA kid next year.On a slightly different topic, it's fairly obvious we're not playing finals, which means (before bids) we have a top 10 pick.
Do people want us to trade two first rounders, knowing one is a top 10ish pick and a high possibility it could be two, for Kozzie?
That's an awful lot and I'm a fan of him

So is Jackson telling Melbourne he's going to request a trade to them and also telling Freo that he's not going anywhere? Can he not say no to people?
I know Duff is usually good but I just don't really think this is a deciding factor. Like he knew what he was getting into when he signed on. I think maybe give him more time on ball instead of resting him forward and he'll be happy. And not to mention Gawn still has 2-3 years left in him.Duffield was telling Corn & Gerard this evening that Jackson wants to be Number 1 ruck, so that's part of it.
I'd happily give him number 1, and offload Darcy next year after he gets fit. Or maybe at this year's trade table if he gets fit.
Can't have both, it's been shit List mgt
I'm still scratching my head. I'll wait to see the final team before getting too worked up, but like I said yesterday, running Darcy into the ground to accommodate a structure that is too tall seems absurd. We need to drop a tall and here's a chance to do so without hurting anyone's feelings. What we really need to do for the benefit of literally everyone involved is play Darcy in the WAFL until he's ready. It literally benefits not a single person having him run out being cooked after the first 10 minutes. The club is soooo scared of hurting the feelings of their big name players so they're never dropped when they need to be.
