We definitely need some playmakers coming out of defence. If Pickett comes in and splits his time mid/forward next year are we better off moving Youngy back to defence? I know he's extremely valuable mid/forward but we appeared to have a good balance when he played that role across HB.

I had some similar thoughts, but unless Jackson is amid we’re very short.

Schultz and Meek probably were in fact overly respected by the club in that their respective desires to move to be with family and for more playing time were facilitated without major barrier.

We’ll never know probably if Shultz would have stayed if we didn’t de-list him and underpay him the whole time he was here so he never felt supported here

If GC payed part of his final year og his contract and gave us a pick like a future second rounder Id do the trade. He's rumoured to be on around 700K so if GC paid say 200K I think he'd be a good pick up. We could also bring in a future 3rd trading one of Erasmus or Switta and that way we can trade our 2026 1st to help get Picket while still having points for Robinson. Weller's battled injury but I watched him earlier this year and he still has great pace and elite skills. He's copped another injury i recent times so GC could be looking to get rid of his salary as they also have class half backs in the team so possibly no place for Weller i their best 22.

No it was an automatic trigger from his previous contract and in that extension announcement Bell said that they were working on a further extension.

“We're in discussions with Lachie and his management that we would like to extend that further and we are confident that we will be able to do that in the coming months," Bell said.

A death in the family since then meant that extension never happened

Look I would frankly love to have Sam Collins in our current side.

However he has certainly come on dramatically as a player since leaving Freo. The intercept hands were there, and the spoiling ability was there but he's managed to seriously improve his burst speed, shed the puppy fat and really plays angry now 100% of the time.

He was good for where he was picked but no world beater when we delisted him.
