Barrett's comments about our back line got me thinking.
We definitely need some playmakers coming out of defence. If Pickett comes in and splits his time mid/forward next year are we better off moving Youngy back to defence? I know he's extremely valuable mid/forward but we appeared to have a good balance when he played that role across HB.
And too many talls...Fremantle Football Club has finally gone full circle - we need to draft more half back flankers

Always puts his body on the line now goes back with the flight , strong lad , always chases hard … what do you want Steven Michael or something ?Acres was disrespected but old mate is the first BF poster to ever say Acres and tough and hard-nosed in the same sentence.
The rest is rubbish
The club got him to put on 15kg then told he wasn’t mobile enough when they cut himSam Collins lol
I swear some Freo fans just hate the club and get enjoyment about making up things to relentlessly whinge about
We’ll never know probably if Shultz would have stayed if we didn’t de-list him and underpay him the whole time he was here so he never felt supported hereLol what is this
There's being a bit morose at our current position and there's batshit insane revisionism.
Schultz and Meek probably were in fact overly respected by the club in that their respective desires to move to be with family and for more playing time were facilitated without major barrier.
Have to agree with all of this. Our list management in this area (the 20th-30th player range) has been appallingly arrogant. We’ll never know probably if Shultz would have stayed if we didn’t de-list him and underpay him the whole time he was here so he never felt supported here
There’s and interview with him on backchat if you don’t believe it
Meek was just plonked behind Darcy from the get go , straight out even when he came in and played well , anyone with eyes could see who was taking their career more seriously
Revisionism my ass I spewed long and hard about every one of those fellas when they left and even before that
Schultz would’ve never stayed because it was his partner who needed to go home after a family tragedy. Anyone with two ears and a brain can understand the context Schultz spoke about the contract situation in the podcast and how he alluded to his immaturity back then. If he was really offended by it he wouldn’t have signed on in the first place. We’ll never know probably if Shultz would have stayed if we didn’t de-list him and underpay him the whole time he was here so he never felt supported here

The context of the podcast appearance was that he was less than thrilled with the clubs failure to commit to him. Meek was literally in his 5th year before he got a game. Meanwhile Darcy was getting 40 hit outs regularly in his debut season.

It wasn't a "failure to commit". COVID just messed the rules up.The context of the podcast appearance was that he was less than thrilled with the clubs failure to commit to him. Who would be?
Maybe a guy who’s club fudged the numbers to get him the job in the first place when every other team overlooked him and actually had a commitment from the club even under Covid circumstances but just had to be fake delisted before hand idkThe context of the podcast appearance was that he was less than thrilled with the clubs failure to commit to him. Yeah the game moving away from Darcy the year after he won a b&f ok lolToo much too ask for the club to spot the game moving away from dinosaurs like Darcy at a rate of knots I suppose
Speaking of Blakely I could see us having interest in his old mate Lachie Weller only if we get offered a deal like the Will Brodie trade where we get offered a pick to take on a contract. If GC payed part of his final year og his contract and gave us a pick like a future second rounder Id do the trade. He's rumoured to be on around 700K so if GC paid say 200K I think he'd be a good pick up. We could also bring in a future 3rd trading one of Erasmus or Switta and that way we can trade our 2026 1st to help get Picket while still having points for Robinson. Weller's battled injury but I watched him earlier this year and he still has great pace and elite skills. He's copped another injury i recent times so GC could be looking to get rid of his salary as they also have class half backs in the team so possibly no place for Weller i their best 22.It wasn't a "failure to commit". This wasn't exclusive to Lachie. Mundy waited til November to get re-signed. That list spot only really got freed up once we traded Hogan. We tried offloading Blakely too, but nobody bit.
Shultz regretted signing the contract was how I remember the interview. From memory it was a contract extension but at low pay he signed.Maybe a guy who’s club fudged the numbers to get him the job in the first place when every other team overlooked him and actually had a commitment from the club even under Covid circumstances but just had to be fake delisted before hand idk
Yeah no he didn’t.Shultz regretted signing the contract was how I remember the interview. From memory it was a contract extension but at low pay he signed.

He was playing way too well to be getting one-year extensions.Maybe a guy who’s club fudged the numbers to get him the job in the first place when every other team overlooked him and actually had a commitment from the club even under Covid circumstances but just had to be fake delisted before hand idk
He kicked 12 goals for the season. And then signed a three year contract the next year. So clearly he got over it.He was playing way too well to be getting one-year extensions.
What are you talking about. He got a one-year extension in 2023 and clearly wasn't happy with his status. Why would he be?He kicked 12 goals for the season. And then signed a three year contract the next year. So clearly he got over it.
He didn't sign an extension then, but hit an extension trigger. What are you talking about. He got a one-year extension in 2023 and clearly wasn't happy with his status. Why would he be?
No it was an automatic trigger from his previous contract and in that extension announcement Bell said that they were working on a further extension. What are you talking about. He got a one-year extension in 2023 and clearly wasn't happy with his status. Why would he be?
Sam Collins lol
