Duds has a two year extension

“DOCKER TO LAND NEW DEAL

ISAIAH Dudley didn't have an AFL contract until February, but now Fremantle has rewarded the mature-age recruit with a two-year extension.

The Dockers are finalising a deal that will tie Dudley to the club until the end of 2027, following a surprise rise out of the SANFL.

Fremantle invited the small forward to trial for a spot on the rookie list in December, before signing him late in the pre-season supplemental selection period ahead of the game against the Indigenous All Stars.”
Bloody good effort by that fella

Depends what you mean by big name but I'd say Smith is a bit of a standout for them genuinely ripping off an opposition team in a trade in of a best 22 player in the last 4-5 years.
Smith, Cameron, Dangerfield. They make a point of big names only when uncontracted knowing their continued finish in or around the 8 means they will always get em cheap

I like the Jackson v Darcy battle for No 1 ruck position. It's like watching two Silverback Gorrilas compete for control over the harem. Inspiring stuff for teammates - after all, apes are stronger together.
Yeah, but let’s say you had 100 Luke Jackson’s against a gorilla and 100 Sean Darcy’s against a different but totally equal gorilla. Who is more likely to win?

😝

Eagles have settled it seems on Richmond VFL player Tom McCarthy at pick 1. Selwood will likely go but prob before Eagles second pick. He will be a big loss to Peel.

Who was the last free agent from WA that returned home? There’s been Reece Conca and I’m struggling to think of any others for Freo or West Coast. If we’ve missed any it’s because they’ve re-signed with their current club.

Point is that there’s probably 10x as many players returning to Victoria and whenever it’s a country player Geelong have a significant pull being the only country Victorian club. That’s before considering anything dodgy that may or may not be happening.

We simply aren’t playing the same game as Geelong. Only way for us is to build mostly through the draft and take opportunities to bring home WA born players and whoever else is interested whenever we can. If we need to add say a small forward or midfielder through trade we can’t wait five years for that player to both want a trade and be out of contract. If they out of contract that’s a bonus but waiting for contracts to expire means players like Clark and Bolton probably never join Freo in the first place. I’d rather win some and lose some than never trade in players.

I just think the Jackson situation leaves you very vulnerable if you ship Darcy out the door now.

Can hold him to his contract all you want but if the sitaution keeps escalating then there's no way Jackson would want to be staying in Perth, contracted or not.

We've got 4.5 years which realistically is 3 full seasons before you probably have to pull the trigger for value. The ups and downs of outside life will get sorted in that time and we could potentially extend him too.

Yes, hokd to contract and if he still needs to leave after 4 years its not like we couldn't plan for it and trade someone in

Neither gorilla will have a great vertical leap, so both Jackson and Darcy should win the tap pretty easily. It's really going to boil down to what happens after the ball hits the ground, and you'd have to back the 100 Luke Jackson's to be more effective in that phase. But good luck to either of them sticking a tackle if the gorilla gets first possession.

Imagine if Warner was still on the market. I think that would potentially incentivise us to trade out Darcy this year. As Tay has said, the best thing for the club to do is get him fit and firing and playing as many games as possible. Then we can make a choice based on his output.

People bag us out for paying so much for 2 x rucks ... but those numbers reported would have the Saints paying roughly that combined amount for just 1 ruck, while possibly forcing out Marshall who is a great ruckman in his own right.

I reckon it is just too insane to be true and simply don't believe St Kilda are offering that kind of money. It makes no sense at all to me.
