I like the idea of fat side wing by committee. Nod, MJ Freddy.I want to trial dropping Sharp and bringing in Noddy. Share the wing responsibilities between multiple players.
Exactly, then we can play Noddy on ball. That will be the real game booster for us. I just think bringing in Noddy who was developing brilliantly this season will produce a bigger output then Sharp. Sharp would make great depth for us.I like the idea of fat side wing by committee. Nod, MJ Freddy.
As brad pitt would say in Moneyball recreate him in the aggregate.
MJs big tackle on the fat side wing was a genuine outer wing contest that I don't think sharp could have won.
Agreed, but must also credit that Sharp was harder over the ball this game than I have ever seen him before. I think JL loves his running ability and the fact he is always an extra in our backline to disrupt the opposition, it is what is keeping him in the team at the moment.I like the idea of fat side wing by committee. Here hoping it’s a bit of a watershed moment (yesterday’s game) for the kid and he goes on with it from here and earns another contract .Jack Delean should be watching Ollie Dempsey very closely and doing everything he does.
Sharp is also on the rookie list which probably complicates things a little bit.
We’ve committed to upgrading Draper so do we want to upgrade two or is a contract similar to Schultz, Worner, Draper etc where he spends year one on the rookie list then is upgraded better for the club? Is that what Sharp wants?
Think upgrading two rookies makes list spots on the senior list quite tight tbh. Might mean we’re risking another Max Knobel situation with a depth player. Having said that both Sharp and Voss are year three on the rookie list next year so we’re only kicking the can down the road really - the same issue is there next year.
Honestly believe it’s best for the club to keep Sharp on the rookie list another season. With a senior list of 36, having good playing on rookie list is very important for depth IMO.
We won't do it though. These situations are easy, pick an old player, like JOM who is contracted, and absolutely nobody will contract. Delist and re-rookie.
They should be easy but we don't do itThese situations are easy, pick an old player, like JOM who is contracted, and absolutely nobody will contract. Delist and re-rookie.
Reckon Brodie may be the one we are willing to risk it forWe won't do it though.
We'll pick our last out of contract player we want to re-sign like we have done the last 3-4 years.
Hopefully the Knobel situation was enough of a warning though.

Would explain the big game yesterday.Think Ballas is back at Peel now doing some coaching.
Would explain the big game yesterday.
Definitely harder, he had a couple of red hot goes in the last. Shows a lot of discipline in his role of running and blocking exits on his side etc. you would think they are working on bringing him into the game more possession wise, clearly doing some coach instructions to continuously play that way. Harder for him playing that as team is going a little more direct which coincides with less possession. Be an interesting watch from hereAgreed, but must also credit that Sharp was harder over the ball this game than I have ever seen him before. Not sure I'm ready to write him off just yet.Ballas has been back at Peel since March. Maybe having an influence, but he'd be a good role model.
With Delean though, even if it's not at Fremantle, he's only turned 20yo in April. There are some Top 10 picks who make an impact before that age, but there's also lots of great small forwards who have had to work at it, been drafted at an older age, or have been delisted and come back in the early 20's.
At the end of day all of us have no idea and talk out of arses collectively but your arse talking assumption is a decent one. He keeps getting a game and is running extremely high volume each game.Sharp may be playing an ultra defensive role more focussed on taking up dangerous areas than being on outlet option on turnover where we seem to be using the corridor more.
The fact that we’ve won the last 3 without him getting much of it seems a bit strange & maybe a bit more of a directive as our general possession count is high. He could be playing a very unselfish game that is contributing to the wins.
Note, I have no evidence to back this up & are likely talking out of my ass.
What's the 'risk' in the first place? It should be the least required player (not youngsters wity potential either) being demoted to the Rookie list.Reckon Brodie may be the one we are willing to risk it for
How long do you want Sharp contracted? Three or four years might secure that position on field for us but if another player takes it over from him he doesn't have another string to his bow and could end up at Peel for three years.
Sharp should be securing his future for as long as possible, in every respect but Freo need to be careful. He isn't in the same group as Nick Martin etc.
Erasmus and Sharp I'd like to see extended for two to three, Wagner signed up for the rest of his playing career, Johnson extended.
If the club had the power I would be doing something like this:
Sharp - 2
Raz - 3
LJ - 6
Wags - 3
Johnson - 3
