I'm hardly JOM's biggest fan, but he started the year very well—and was one of our few composed, experienced players at a time when we were mostly losing due to rookie skill errors and decision-making. That's why he's been in the team over Neil Erasmus—next year, I doubt either of them are b22 in injury-free side.Erasmus should of been ahead of JOM from
about 3-4 games into 2023. It became very apparent JOM couldn’t move. The only valuable games JOM has played for us could be counted on 1 hand, and personally I think 3 games he’s added value to the team in his career with us so far. Two of those games were this year.
If we lose Erasmus while we have Brodie, Fyfe, JOM still on the list we’ve lost the plot.

The main reason JOM gets consistent games is the 4-year contract he came in on, and the egg-on-face situation if he wasn’t played for the majority of it. IMO.

Which article is thisReading the Ryan Daniel’s article it appears Freo has been completely honest with Pickett and his management.
The article states Kozzi management flew to Melbourne last Wednesday to relay where the situation sits. Fremantle are aware they probably will not have the picks to satisfy Melbourne and his salary will be 750k - 800k where at Melbourne they could offer 1.2 million a season.
I can only see it happening if Freo trade someone like Darcy to match Melbournes offer.
On the plus side the article also states Freo will not consider trading Jackson in any circumstances and an extension may happen.
I will also add that the article says that there is no indication that Pickett has changed his mind about coming to Freo more so that Daniel’s has come to the conclusion that Melbourne being able to offer 300 - 400 thousand more a season will be to hard to knock back which is a fair assumption.
It was on Reddit under Fremantlefc, looks like the west Australian from today’s paper.Which article is this
True. But he wasn’t a big name recruiting coup, just a massive error in judgment. Probably on a lot less too. Will Brodie
What and JOM was? I think what you said was just wrong. There is no way a hypothetical reasonable person is going to agree that we are only playing JOM because we traded in him in for the equivalent of a second rounder, with Hawthorn paying his wages for a chunk of it, but are embarrassed, but at the same time are apparently not embarrassed we extended Brodie for 3 years then didn't play him.True. JOM gets a game because he can play inside mid, outside mid, wing, HF, HB if required. He is not brilliant but is flexible and he does what he needs to do.What and JOM was? We are playing JOM because we lack experienced depth, on field experienced leaders and outside mids who can also play inside. To be fair that's not why he was recruited, but this is how its panned out.
Compromising your midfield to save face come on that's just silly.
Agree. He could explode if given the rest of the season. He is just starting to look comfortable. If we lose him now, we will look stupid in 2 years when JOM and Fyfe are gone, and he is doing his thing for someone else. There is no way we'd get value for trading Ras at this point.
FFS play him for the rest of the year and offer him a fair deal to stay

You mean, if an inexperienced Voss hadn’t tried to kick a pin point pass on the 45 degree angle, we would have beaten the Swans?
Besides Reid who is a freak, experience wins out at the end of a game over young talent.
If you have both, look out.
Walters is our best forward in finals ever and an old head / jet. I’m giving him a game over Dudley if he can cover the ground in a final.
If 4 clubs want him and this draft is as bad as it’s being talked up, maybe we can get a first rounder for him if he stays in the team and continues to develop.
We then use it to then salary dump one or two players or package them up with Ras for a lesser pick. Clear enough to pay Kossi 1m a year in 12 or 24 months and maybe he takes it.
Less depth short term but Kossi.
I do want to keep Ras though but sometimes you need to let them go for their own career like Meek if we can’t offer a spot in the team.
This reminds me of West Coast a few years back, forced to play a smaller backline but it worked. Unearthed smaller and faster defenders who moved the ball quicker. It’s all just opinions etc but I couldn’t disagree more with this
I firmly believe that without injuries to certain players we would be running about 12-13 th ATM
We stumbled blindly onto the current dangerous looking side we’ve evolved into
Just in time for mumbles to **** it all up again as we start getting players back
Potential over experience all day
