That game showed why we need mature body ruck depth, or that Luke Jackson is the best player in the competition.

Maybe both.

Jackson not great on the mic, but he sure seems to making a point that he thinks he’s the No1 ruck or wants to be.
Be interesting what the dynamic with he and Darcy is behind the scenes.

Again, basically telling the club to **** off Darcy. Pretty disrespectful to do so loudly tbh. Do it in private or learn how to not get pantsed by Xerri. Can’t stand players throwing teammates under the bus.

What did he say? I assume went in on this again last night?

I don't think he understands how it comes off lol

Him and Swaggy are close mates

So Darcy will clearly be shopped elsewhere this off season.
The question is, with the Chad and Kozzy off the table, which A grade talent can we reach for?

That is only an assumption that Darcy will be "Shopped" around.
All because of a bullshit story that had Jackson being on the move back to Melbourne.

Chad Warner at the end of 2027.
Ed Allan at the end of 2026
Starcevich maybe? Concussion history a worry, and with Worner and Simpson half back is not big need.
Hopefully a small forward.
Maybe Callum Ah Chee or McVee this year

So the question really is, do we make a run to improve the 2nd half of our best 22 or bank the cash we had set aside for Kozzie?

You'd imagine ANY best 22 player added basically rules us out of Warner or Pickett down the road short of losing a Jackson level player (maybe Darcy salary is enough to push it over the line).

Is a McVee or Starcevich worth going for? I'm not sure there's any other names we'd be in the ring for

I think we throw the cash at locking down our existing key players long term and see what shakes out later.

Anyone currently best twenty three who isn't contracted until they are early thirties years old, sign them up.

Serong, Voss, Johnson, O'Driscoll, extend Jackson, Murphy Reid (offer him 800k a year for a 5 year extension)

Starcevich is too risky with his history, not that I think he'd want to come anyway considering he wants more midfield time. Anyone else at this point just seems like we're paying too much (picks or salary) for what the output would be. Think if we're trying to bettter the 2nd half of our 22 it needs to be done cheaply. Guys like Wagner, Voss, Worner we got for nothing but if you wanted to find players of similar ability last year you would've paid a lot more.

It has been a very key part of the build I feel. Prepared to pay for elite talent from elsewhere following building the core from the draft. If you arent top 10 in the club, you get chips basically and we'll recycle through MSD and the draft for players from 11-40 on the list.

Darcy is worth more to Fremantle than what a team will pay for him in trade.
It's not about that IMO. It's about salary cap space and the best way to use it.

A forward/mid or winger on the same amount as Darcy might be worth more to the team than Darcy even if that forward/mid or winger costs us a first rounder and Darcy is a pure salary dump.

Personally I'd love a slightly poor man's Shai Bolton so the actual Shai Bolton can spend far more time in the midfield.

And this might be the answer. Not much proven ability as mid but as a forward he's well and truly proven.

I think its a good strategy until we win a flag, then clubs will come for the fringe players and we will have a run on our all depth. I welcome this moment as A) We will have won a flag, B) Clubs usually play overs so it will feed Walls draft picks to continue to improve the list.
