Total pipe dream.

We had money for Pickett and Warner.

Retire Walters and Fyfe to get cap space.

Bring in the Bont. Unrestricted Free agent and won’t cost any picks.

Semi related but I found this interesting last night, Bont very complimentary of Joel Corey and the impact he had on his career. Joel of course now an assistant coach here. We seem to be a bit of a home for ex-Bulldogs personnel nowadays

Couple that with the GF from WA, UFA as you said, it’s the perfect storm.

I’m being like 25% serious, there’s a 0.1% chance he leaves the Dogs, he basically is their entire club at this point. But faark wouldn’t it be nice to have him. If there’s even the smallest inkling that he might be gettable…

Don’t speak logical or make a rational argument.

Seriously he is coming.

Look at the opposition and some context.

Darcy went down with injury in the Collingwood game and Jackson rucked majority of the game.

Let’s look at the 5-1 record with Jackson and Voss.
Essendon win - home game expected win
Sydney loss - home game expected win
West Coast - expected win
Footscray win - home game expected win
Giants win - away game expected loss
Port win - home game expected win

5-1 which was expected.

Yes, context matters, that’s my point. But lack of it is only called out when the stat presented doesn’t align with your personal view. Why does it not apply to this stat that everyone is eating up? It’s the exact same thing, win-loss record with and without the two rucks. Why do the opponents not matter here?

Wouldn’t that be incredible. I’m sold.

True, we are selective in our win loss ratios.

Opposition and their rucks does count but their is a lot of other factors ie injuries, other players available etc.

I just don’t like the crap thrown at Darcy who is a top 5 ruck, bleeds purple and Jackson can play multiple roles.

While we are talking about pie un the sky stuff, throw our hat in the ring for Sam Walsh. Worth it just for getting destination club status?

I'm sorry but those stats and graphic is really misleading, if not disingenuous considering our set up now is different than in most of those games. When both Jackson and Darcy played, Jacko was our third tall fwd. And when Jacko rucked solo, Treacy was giving him the chop out which reduced his and the teams overall effectiveness. This year, sans Darcy, we've had Voss doing backup duty with Treacy focusing purely on being a fwd.

What those stats advocate isn't necessarily Darcy and Jackson as a pair, but a 1 ruck, 1 ruck/fwd and 2 tall fwds combo. This week is only the 4th time we're rolling with all five of Darcy/Jacko/Voss/Amiss/Treacy, so the jury is still out on whether this will prove effective going forward imo. It's likely JL and the rest of the coaches never accounted for Voss being as good as he is.
Development of Voss has changed the conversation.

5 does sounds too much. Except for Darcy all of them are mobile.

We need at least 4 games to make a judgement.

I'd say Sam Darcy is going to be a pretty big part of it going forward.

On another subject I wonder if Jeremy Sharp has now joined Will Brodie in the ex GC players who had one good season and were banished forever more.

It depends on whether Sharp fixes whatever he’s been dropped for. I think he’s been carrying something so it could just be working through that.

Brodie wasn’t banished for some crime, the midfield mix changed when Mundy retired then Young changed it further. Brodie needs to be more accountable and flexible in what positions he can play. From what I’ve seen of him at WAFL level he hasn’t done that so I don’t know why people expect him to come in.

Absolutely.
Comes with risk (back, leg and foot issues). But if you can get him right?

Imagine getting Walsh back to his best, and leaving them with Cerra..

Snuffaluphagus …..?

Was that a loaded question?
I should be very clear that I expect this is a rumour fueled by
1) Daniels and Darcy and Carlton
2) Walsh seemingly hating Carlton
3) Someone else hearing about Walsh and a WA property
4) Someone putting 1+1+1 together to equal 4

It's almost certainly rubbish but it's a fun dream nonetheless. I would gain so so much respect for the club if they pulled it off. The only thing better than 1 Brayshaw, is two of them

Love it. Bont is a Bulldogs legend and a one club man, same as Pav or Fyfey. Still.. the thought of him as a Docker - goal-kicking mid would be amazing.

Look at Dale Thomas trying to scrounge his way into the photo. Such a hack.
