Are our mature aged recruits the last five years really been that good?

Wagner has been fantastic. Dudley looking okay. Omac good depth. Reidy and Emmett can only be considered failures.

We got Ryan in 2016, Switta in 2017 and Schultz in 2018. Not sure even Wagner is close to that level.

Really hope NOD gets back to his form at the start of the season. Get inside mid time. The wing doesn’t suit him, ever since 2022

I would rather me linked with no one, than the wrong player. Save it and get a free agent next year.

Realistically the odds of these trades actually happening are low. There is no chance Essendon are trading away a contracted Merrett. If Curnow goes it'll be for Jed Walter with picks swapped, would we really be happy if we were being linked to a trade for Curnow for Amiss?

Ultimately there are very few players of need for us actually available this year unfortunately. Signing Ras and keeping Jackson were probably our priorities

Its like we just put all our time and energy into Warner/Pickett and then when they re signed we gave up on courting anyone

The only real mention we've had is being linked with McVee but he seems more likely to re-sign with Melbourne, or just us looking to extend our own players.

Why would a Victorian based player like Merrett for example choose Fremantle over Hawthorn?

Some on here really need to understand that we’re dealing with humans not commodities & move interstate is a big deal to a player & their family & costs the club a fair bit more to get these blokes here which often is not the sensible decision.

The recruits we have are either ex WA or players who are looking for an opportunity without interest from their home state.

Same with coaches, why on Earth would Longmire come here? We would have to pay him far more than any coach is worth to entice him which takes away from the soft cap.

The only way we’re a chance with players are connections which we don’t have & a strong history, which we don’t have. The club has done very well on some speculators to get us to this position, but we are not a destination club.

I can guarantee we ask a lot of questions to players managers, more than we think but are not getting very far.

I think the doom and gloom in here is a little premature, we're still going through exit meetings, I'd wait until off-season really gets into gear before getting worried about us not bringing anyone in.

The club seems to have a view that A-Graders/A-Grade adjacents are obviously worth chasing, and so are young players with major scope to improve. But if you're just a solid B-Grader with not much scope to improve, we're not interested. Last season we went for Cumming and Baker who fit that category. Maybe they viewed those players as better at filling specific list holes? Or recent player developments have meant those types are harder to fit in the cap?

I'd like to see them at least get aggressive with particular profiles of players that we lack which would improve the team, even if they're not A-Graders.

I hope Wallsy drafts Cody Curtin ,he may be around selection 20ish. He looks really promising over 200cm would be an ideal replacement down the track for Pearce who lets face it may only last a few more years with the state of his body. Also he is very versatile and he is a docker supporter and has trained with us, what's not to like.
I've got no faith in Davies and Draper ,barely WAFL standard. Draper shows promise but he is too much of a light weight.

Ah Chee for example, from WA, premiership player, experienced, reliable, versatile, would be pretty handy for us on a wing or half-forward, we haven’t been linked to him once and he seems set to go to Adelaide.

Pickett I'd have another crack at in a heartbeat if his situation in Melbourne changes, reckon we're a very good shot at Warner again when his contract comes up in a couple of years. Was leaning towards coming home at the start of the year, that could very much happen again.
