Honestly wish we went hard for Zac Bailey. Would be literally perfect for us. Really sucks that we can't lure anyone who's not West Australian. Need to work on making our club more appealing.

Also, listening to JB we're not targetting anyone to help move the ball off half back and actually said that our scoring off half back is in a good spot. Said he wants people to help improve on our slow play lol.
I agree with you. Like a Switta that kicks goals

Translation: We got nothing coming peeps, wrap it up
Thought I'd watch the full interview before commenting on this.

He was asked specifically whether our first rounder was on the table and gave a pretty stock standard answer saying we'd look at if the right player was available etc.

Pretty sure West Coast's footy boss would say they open to trading pick one if the right opportunity was available.

It's not that serious. The majority of teams draft all 18 year olds on draft so their team gets younger. Even the ones that draft a mature ager usually also take a couple younger guys to offset their impact on the age. Weird thing to nitpick over when the statement is true over 95% of the time.
Yes it is weird :) I just find it weird to state something so painfully obvious.

95% LOL.

If anyone could find a single example of a list getting older between the end of the season and the end of the drafts I'd be extremely impressed. Wouldn't be surprised if it's never happened.

I really didn't get Speed dating format.

Clubs would be in discussion for a few months, and any surprises come after each team is out of the finals or in trade week.
Listening to Twomey who covers it every year - It's generally broader than just players though - would run through clubs looking to move picks to future years, accumulate points and also how many picks clubs are likely to use.

That way when GC want points, or a club need picks with points for a trade they know who to ask etc.

Also the type of format where we may go 'we are looking to offload a fringe player if suitable' and see if anything comes from these.

Walls not there due to being in town to do all the exit interviews.

Still seems unlikely, but not as certain as made out perhaps?

AFLW Season finishes on 29 November. Our pre season starts on 24 November.

It's not long apart if he only relocates in November. His partner then requests a trade as well.

Is she from WA or Victoria? Last thing we want is another Brad Hill/Rory Lobb where they just go back after 3-4 years.

Joined the dees from port and is originally from tassie, don’t know if that works in our favour or not

I don't watch AFLW, but going on stats this lass looks like she is in the bottom 2 or 3 players at Melbourne. Barely touches it and low TOG%. Might struggle to keep her spot in the Melbourne side. Maybe she would be better off moving to a bottom 4 club like Freo's AFLW side to get more of a game.

Wouldn't get a game for us

We made finals last year, we aren't a bottom 4 club

We have had a tough draw to start the season

If he's unsure we should convince him. Dangle the 1st plus richmonds 3rd and get Mcvee and melbourne's 2nd.

They have no first rounder this year and are in need for it
No way he takes our first with us bundling out first week of finals

Maybe if we were a GF team with something late coming back but definitely not now

lmaaooo guys uncontracted and only got a two year deal in front of him and ur dangling a first??
Think we have an appropriate amount of list spots that we could just package up two of the other picks to improve our second rounder.

With so many Academy and FSs this year surely there's at least one team that'll go for that before we go back to Melbourne to discuss a McVee trade.

I’d dangle the first. Get him to commit. Then tug on the string the first was dangled on and swap it with a future 3rd.

I’m not overly worried. Honestly, it would be like someone chasing Worner from us.

never even heard of him or seen him play

3rd rounder should get it done after some back and forth negotiations where we offer a 4th, they ask for a 2nd and everyone settles for the 3rd

get it done Wallsy, should be an easy one here, surely

none of this paying overs shit that we tend to do at the trade table

unpopular opinion, I would take Neale back for 1 year with the plan to make him an assistant

There’s at what price?

Honestly, I wouldn’t even take him for a 3rd rounder. He’s essentially the same mould as Serong and Lachie's output is only on the decline. Factor in soft tissues and it’s a gamble that is probably heavier weighted towards no good.

I’d also not take him back for the fact he did walk out on the club. Unsure how we just go ‘oh hey buddy, welcome back. Congrats on playing your prime years with the Lions and winning a flag’
