Wouldn't get a game for us

We made finals last year, we aren't a bottom 4 club

We have had a tough draw to start the season
You are kidding yourself , I've watched every Freo womens game this year , we are going backwards fast, we have played two of the top teams and got pumped hard , we will lose to WC this week , that's how bad we are .

Just a but of thought on a Liam Reidy trade. If Carlton get an end of first round pick for Silvagni is that pick gettable?

Carlton have a father son who'll go first round. Assuming he's going after TDK compensation pick, Carlton might be interested in downgrading the end of first round pick.

All this involves our second rounder of course, along with one or two of third rounders (haven't done the maths on points). Reidy is then thrown is as steak knives.

We'd enter the draft with two first rounders and most likely two fourth rounders (Port's and our own). Realistically it'll be two first rounders and Whan.

All this assumes McVee re-signs with Melbourne of course.

I wouldn’t pay a 5th round for Reidy so there’s that.

Would be perfect for us and the crows, but I don't see him leaving Vic.

This is a massive advantage the vic teams have. If they need a player, of type x, there is more than likely one on the market.
Agree, I don't see him leaving Vic either, but I bet our club wouldn't have even had a conversation... be aggressive, throw a big contract in front of him and put your hat in the ring, instead of just sitting on the sidelines... even if all it does is force a Vic club to have to pay more to get him.

I like the Rivers idea - fast, dynamic, tough, passionate..
Any ideas for a goalkicking tackling machine forward? Paul Curtis?

Just a thought on the Merrett saga... interesting how the two meetings Mitchell has had with opposition captains got leaked to the media, making it extremely difficult for the captains to return to their clubs. What a ruthless operator he is. Fortunately Freo fans don't forget his sniper's knee to Fyfe in 2015...
I'll be barracking for Adelaide tonight.

Any other time I'd usually cheer for Adelaide but they've completely shown their asses with this homophobia saga and how poorly they've handled it. Hard to want to see them win.

Would rather neither of them win.

I heard some one in 91.3 fm saying that He wont come to the game today and instead talking to other club players :)

There’s at what price?

Honestly, I wouldn’t even take him for a 3rd rounder. He’s essentially the same mould as Serong and Lachie's output is only on the decline. Factor in soft tissues and it’s a gamble that is probably heavier weighted towards no good.

I’d also not take him back for the fact he did walk out on the club. Unsure how we just go ‘oh hey buddy, welcome back. Congrats on playing your prime years with the Lions and winning a flag’
The only concern for me would be how does his salary impact our cap?

Doubt he would be playing every game and i don't think the club is keen because we seem to have committed to giving Ras + MJ more midfield minutes.

Id prefer for him to stay at Brissie for his last year and then retire and come back to WA as an assistant coach. feels gross the idea of him being at WC

Seen the results so far?

Swans beat us.
Of course, I watch every game

We have had a hard draw

Swans look good this year but that was also a completely ****ed game umpire wise

33-8 free kicks, absolute joke

Even then, they had a quick run on in the third and that was the only difference

We were never beating north or Brissy and most teams wont

We were never going to beat Brissy or north, if you thought that we would then you seriously don't understand the landscape of the AFLW right now

We may miss the 8 with aine missing most of the year but we are still one of the better sides

The fixture isn't even in AFLW, some teams don't even have to play North/Brissy

Flying out domestic yesterday morning and saw Kamdyn McIntosh at the airport. Not unusual given he's an ex-WA boy...

... But he was also with Jayden Short :eyes:

There was an article posted a couple of posts back which suggests recruiters think there is a clear top 6 in the draft and Carlton's F/S is one of them. Which surprised me to read that, as I haven't seen any rankings that have him that high.

Saints plan to bid as early as possible

He's made the situation so toxic that it might be in his best interests to leave Melbourne completely or else he'll be copping abuse wherever he goes.

There might be more chance of him getting the trade he desires as well, as Essendon would rather him go to Freo or Crows than one of their bitter enemies.

Look I’m not a huge fan but if he’s kicking 30 goals each year and can improve his tackling etc then I’m not going to be too worried.

I’m with you.
Than number should be 40+ tho realistically. He’s missed so many shots he should have nailed. That’s a good year.

Needs to desperately improve his output in big games tho, and his hardness at the ball. He’s sqibbed a lot of contests

unpopular opinion, I would take Neale back for 1 year with the plan to make him an assistant
I wouldn’t just because of sheer pettiness

I like the thinking but legitimately for Reidy it will unlikely be anything useful. He is out of contract and has played 3 games. Clearly not highly regarded by Freo.

I think Will Brodie will get sorted early doors but Carlton with bigger fish to fry it will be something offered that is a late pick they won’t use. Our best hope is waiting on that and taking best offer. Having him involved in anything first round related seems very unlikely. His realistic value is late fourth at best. Which in a trade involving firsts and seconds is essentially steak knives.

The other option for Carlton is just doing no deal and then going the DFA or even SSP route. At end of the day it doesn’t matter.

Carlton will have many other picks and players to deal with and likely go to the draft with a decent hand and do live trading around the f/s.

I don’t know if McVee is going to end up available but for mine given he only has 2 year contract offer and is OOC should be done for a second round pick. Somewhere between Langdon (approx pick 24) and Liam Henry (approx pick 32 value). Our second round pick falls in that range so can’t see why that can’t get the deal done. It is currently 29 but with FA compensation and potential end of first round pick may fall at 34 but it is close enough. Otherwise F2 and move on.

We should ask the question of Zach Merrett... nothing to lose.
Zach's copping for heat on how he has handled this.

But honestly was there any other option.

He can't just sit there i would be like to be traded.

The answer will be a firm NO.

He had to go Nuclear and basically make the situation untenable.

If he was a Freo player i would be pissed off no doubt.

But honestly Essendon only have themselves to blame - Years of empty promises they have now decided to do a full on rebuild which is going take 5-6 years and Zach's gone well i wont be around when we next to contend so why should i stay.

He should never have accepted the contract extension, or the extra cash.

Give the club one more year to turn it around, then it’s an easier exit, and more palatable to the fans.
