That rumour was floating for some days and the flagmantle bloke has also posted as well. Even if it true it is solved as Joey said Jackson may not play forward next year with full time middle either ruck or rower? May be occasion stint in F50.
It’s Voss and Treacy.
It’s better to have Amiss as the deeper forward. But it’s unfair, because if the delivery isn’t perfect- as in hits him in the chest, he’s a non-factor. He can’t wrestle, doesn’t win many contested marking. Treacy does all the work.

Sure Mitchell is a grub and definitely leaked the meeting what if Essendon just handled it maturely instead of another Scott public bitching session interview? They've made the whole thing harder than it needs to be
Coaches meeting players..
This shit has happened for years.
Fagan meeting witb Neale for example. Which is fair, because Fremantle were going nowhere fast. Merrett is in a worse spot, because he’s 30 and Essendon haven’t won a final in 20 years.

Lachie will only return to Perth to play for Freo.

He won't play for the Eagles he will stay in Brissy if he can't end up at Freo.

We don't seem like we are interested though which is fair enough considering the price we have to pay.

Put the pettiness or bitterness aside how he left.

Does he make our team better is the question you have to answer if Lachie said i want to be traded to Freo.
Soft tissue injuries all of a sudden. Yeah it’s not ideal.

Zach's copping for heat on how he has handled this.

But honestly was there any other option.

He can't just sit there i would be like to be traded.

The answer will be a firm NO.

He had to go Nuclear and basically make the situation untenable.

If he was a Freo player i would be pissed off no doubt.

But honestly Essendon only have themselves to blame - Years of empty promises they have now decided to do a full on rebuild which is going take 5-6 years and Zach's gone well i wont be around when we next to contend so why should i stay.
Agree, it's the only way he can get out.

It's a massive longshot, but if the club are serious, we present him an offer to good to refuse - he would be the missing piece, and we are contending hopefully in the next couple of years.

In all likliehood he ends up at the Hawks, Cats or Pies as per usual though

Not sure it's homophobia. They just don't like a snitch.
I mean to each their own but Collingwood players had every right to report that, if players are using homophobic language and slurs, it should definitely be called out. It's not snitching to hold people accountable for poor heuavit.

Adelaide trying to lessen Rankine's ban, the Adelaide fans booing Quaynor when he did absolutely nothing except be called the f-slur, Adelaide's half hearted apology and condemning of the booing.

It takes a lot to have neutral fans want to see Collingwood beat you, but Adelaide achieved that without breaking a sweat. It's hard to want to see them do well after all that.

A snitch. Pretty sure Rankine did the damage. Say anything else. But why go to those depths.

Don’t like a snitch.. that’s lame. This is why a current AFL player won’t come out as gay because Adelaide have done nothing but admit fault and its fans have turned in Quaynor more then going against Rankine. It’s disgusting

Don't think they have to like Quaynor anyway? He plays for the opposition.

I'm not commenting on the issue. I'm just saying it's not homophobia.

That’s all true, but I hate hawks (Mitchell) more than the pies, so it’s Adelaide for me this week, Cats can knock them out next week.
Edit, I also like the idea of having our pick so close to WC, bit of a role reversal on last year.

Not disputing Rankine was wrong and I think he was well and truly punished for it.
However I thought Bailey Smiths behaviour at an open training session earlier this week toward a female photographer who was doing absolutely nothing wrong was disgraceful and he’s basically gotten off Scott-free (pardon the pun). He was a nasty prick and a misogynist in that incident for no apparent reason whatsoever.

Not a word about it in the media from some of the same people who absolutely castigated Rankine.

It’s just one example of the disproportionate reaction to these kind of unsavoury incidents in the AFL media.

I don't know where you're getting your news because I've not been able to escape the Bailey Smith news over the past few days, it's been everywhere.

The afl and Geelong being absolutely smashed today because of the inaction.

I like the thinking but legitimately for Reidy it will unlikely be anything useful. He is out of contract and has played 3 games. Clearly not highly regarded by Freo.

I think Will Brodie will get sorted early doors but Carlton with bigger fish to fry it will be something offered that is a late pick they won’t use. Our best hope is waiting on that and taking best offer. Having him involved in anything first round related seems very unlikely. His realistic value is late fourth at best. Which in a trade involving firsts and seconds is essentially steak knives.

The other option for Carlton is just doing no deal and then going the DFA or even SSP route. At end of the day it doesn’t matter.

Carlton will have many other picks and players to deal with and likely go to the draft with a decent hand and do live trading around the f/s.

I don’t know if McVee is going to end up available but for mine given he only has 2 year contract offer and is OOC should be done for a second round pick. Somewhere between Langdon (approx pick 24) and Liam Henry (approx pick 32 value). Our second round pick falls in that range so can’t see why that can’t get the deal done. It is currently 29 but with FA compensation and potential end of first round pick may fall at 34 but it is close enough. Otherwise F2 and move on.
FWIW I don't think Reidy adds a single piece of value to this trade at all.

Unless the club wants to actually take four selections at the National Draft pick swaps that move us up the draft will be discussed with other clubs.

The end of first rounder will be pick 22 I'd say and our second (Pick 29 atm) will be pick 33. The third rounders together along with it be worth significantly more points than just pick 22.

I'm sure Carlton will be discussing these strategies but so will Gold Coast, Brisbane and many other clubs. We can only ask the question l.

While we need half back flankers, it might be a risk for McVee to come here, he may not actually be best 22 if Cooper Simpson continues to improve at the rate he is.
Not to mention everything you hear out of McVee is that he wants inside midfield rotations, which is even more unlikely at Freo...

I've not heard that at all. All I heard was he wants to be involved more with the ball coming out of defense/wing whereas at Melbourne the ball is always going through Bowey, Salem, Rivers, May etc..

Simpson played 3 games and got hurt. Lot of water to go under the bridge before he's the next Jesus out of defense, he can use the ball but can he stop his opponent, will his body be up to it?

Add him Lachie & Kamdyn and we’re really playing for a flag

I was just contemplating what that looks like.
Short for a second? HBF
Neale for a third? He’s 33.
Macintosh for free and wing depth.
I don’t hate it.
Our first on maybe a small forward or medium forward, Whan and a couple of Cat B’s?

I don’t hate it.

All three more likely to end up down the road you would think

Agree with this. There’s a lot of cooper Simpson types around this league on various lists.

I loved what I saw in the couple of games he played this year from an attacking sense but he’s practically completely unproven still.

Would love to bring in McVee so at least if Simpson doesn’t come on as hoped next year we aren’t reduced to playing Banfield off half back yet again for another season.

I'm absolutely happy to bring him in, improves our squad for sure. I'm saying as a hypothetical that it's a risk for him. The Freo 23 is hard to break into now unless you're a gun wing. We don't have spare minutes in midfield.

Great thing for the club, not necessarily great for the player.

We can reasonably expect Sharp, NOD, Johnson, Walker, Erasmus, Simpson, Draper to all push for B23 spots in those areas next season.

How many spots are up for grabs? You can lock in:
  1. Pearce,
  2. Cox,
  3. Clark,
  4. Chapman,
  5. Ryan,
  6. Wagner
  7. Serong,
  8. Brayshaw
  9. Jackson,
  10. Darcy,
  11. Bolton,
  12. Switkowski,
  13. Frederick,
  14. Reid,
  15. Voss,
  16. Treacy,
  17. Amiss,
  18. Young.
So that leaves only five more spots available. In order of likelihood they're going to:
  1. Erasmus,
  2. Johnson,
  3. Worner,
  4. NOD,
  5. Simpson,
  6. Banfield
  7. Dudley,
  8. Draper,
  9. Sharp,
  10. McDonald,
  11. Davies.
This is even before we consider trades and draft. It is not impossible we get a player in the draft that pushes for a spot.

Where does McVee slot in to that second list? Maybe before Banfield?

More competition for those spots is obviously very good for us, we need depth.

This is why I'm quite optimistic for next season, there is so much growth and development that can still occur in the lower end of the B23, plus we should see full pre seasons from Young, Darcy, and Jackson.
