Having the allowance would make it slightly more palatable for potential recruits.

There should also be a working away allowance. If one job requires 33 days away from home and another job requires 18 days away from home it's obvious which one people would choose if everything else is equal.

Yeah shocking. Silvagni is handy but when the league hands out picks like that for compensation it to 'help' the former team it disadvantages the entire league.
The idea of compensation is to not allow teams to let players go knowing they'll score off it.

Disagree. Like I said, the main issue is we have Erasmus and Johnson trying to get somewhere near Dunkley and Berry levels. But on the flipside, the rest of the matchups I listed would be in Freo's favour overall, with Fletcher > McVee, but others equal or in our favour.

There's also the style/size of player and we match up similarly in that regard.

The big difference in the sides is not the midfield. They have had goal scoring firepower from small/medium forwards (Cameron, Ah Chee, Lohmann). Then down back there is Zorko distributing, plus rocks like Starcevich and Lester who are much more dependable than Banfield and Worner. And much of that could change over the next few years with player movement and age.
