Love coming back from a week off and seeing that people on here we're graduating before I was even born, definitely don't feel young at all here....

Serong and McVee are great pickups in my opinion, keen to see both of them hopefully at the club.

Saint Kilda have chosen to put their short term future on trading players in rather than trying to improve via the draft. They are going all in too, no messing about.

I think this is the direction the competition is going to follow with such a compromised first round of the draft as we currently have.

Just why the AFL are letting the opportunity for clubs to rebuild via the draft weaken is baffling. The Richmond method of 2024 versus the Saints 2025 shopping expedition should give a reasonable example of each method as the future seasons unfold.

The Saints need this to work for them or they will be back in the doldrums in 3 to 4 years.

They did this like 5 years ago when they got Hill, Ryder and a few others

If we come out of the trade period with both Serong and McVee, retain our first rounder this year and next, while only losing Reidy and Brodie. You have to be happy about that.

It’s all relative.

End of last year we had dreams of Pickett or Warner and some dared to dream of both.

Some of the folk on here had grandkids before you were born! 🤣

If West Coast do trade that to GC, then that pick will be on the board for points on draft night

Don't think we will have enough to poach it unfortunately (after McVee)
Think we'll need future picks to move up even a couple of spots tbh.

IMO best case scenario is we walk away with McVee, Serong, our first rounder and Richmond's third rounder. We'd make the necessary changes to our list after that to ensure we use three picks in the National Draft and stay at 36-6.

But that trade isnt enough points for the pick...
Pick 7 becomes pick 8 which probably helps despite all picks being pushed back.

Also think it'll be almost every pick with points value they have currently plus possibly what they get for Liam Ryan except the one they're trading to Brisbane for Starcevich and Robertson. Whatever they get for Chesser will be enough to get Young.

When you factor in the Allen pick then those 2 are only 10 points off too

Then if its 7 (8) instead the GC are in the green + GC can get the guarantee no bids top 2 from WC like Brissy will (unofficially)

Then ofc GC can further flip those 2x picks on draft night

So many possibilities when you keep looking into it lol

Can't really put these scenarios together until middle of next week IMO.

Obviously there's the Allen pick to go in and Fiorini from Gold Coast is also a free agent and was weighing up 2-3 clubs.

Heard Mihocek probably won't move as a free agent unless Melbourne gets no compensation pick for Spargo - will be a trade.

Technically free agency ends Friday but I doubt we see much happening past Tuesday.
