Besides we're talking about a 21 year old vs a 27 year old at the time.

A player's contract status makes far less impact most of the time than people seem to think. Stop quoting extreme examples and look at a bigger picture. Most of the time clubs negotiate and get a reasonably fair outcome.

This is a player I'd happily trade a pick in the 20s for. He's a very good footballer which has attributes our team desperately needs to take the next step.

Edit: Like, 32 for McVee is less campaignery than what Adelaide did for Dawson, Brisbane for Dunkley and Geelong for Smith...

Look I just think some are overreacting. I don't know why people care what we trade for him unless we involve our first rounder.

Our senior list spots are limited so using later picks to trade up our second rounder probably makes little difference to us.

We've got until Wednesday next week to get this trade done with the other two trades being perhaps the two least valuable Freo players ever traded - those two get done as soon as Walls can be bothered catching up with Carlton/Port.

Would probably only consider this if we did Trade 1 and 3 at the same time as a three way trade.

Was thinking the same, 20 still has potential value for them to trade down further as well.

Edit: pick 52 is only worth 42 points, but would chuck it in if they wanted it, unless it’s done on draft night, we can’t include too many junk picks as they would need the list spots available or lose them

Normally yes but we have no evidence on what's the required premium for points with new DVI. Will be interesting to see it play out this year

I don’t know much about Jai Serong as a player, but this chase made me a little nervous. Bringing in 2 new defenders (incl McVee) into a backline that is already keeping out Walker and Simpson and Draper, and the great unknown of how it would affect Caleb’s game having his brother here… Maybe not a bad thing he chose Sydney and means Jai is forging his own path

That trade or our 2025 Second and one of the third rounders this year. Most non aligned supporters (eg Not Melbourne or us) seem to think he's worth a late 1st in this draft and the non aligned supporter groups are nearly always the ones closest to what happens in reality. So, our first bit of business is likely to revolve around finding that pick but also adding points.

I’m near certain pick 12 is on the table to the highest bidder.

Reckon yours is best case scenario and the other is worst case scenario tbh.

Only other worse scenario that's possible is Walls accepting a trade that involves our first rounder and a good second rounder coming back. I wouldn't be a fan.
