Sorry mattis117 this is all complete BS because the draft value index literally puts a value on every single pick up to 54No, this is the part that everyone misses. I'm not arguing for a position, I'm arguing against a position. I'm fine with sometimes arguing positions that I don't actually believe in for the sake of testing other people's arguments.
There are no logical flaws in my arguments because I understand the difference between known fact and assumption.
If we state that x has no value, then giving away x for free is meaningless. That doesn't mean x has no value, it is a supposition, an assumption made to bridge gaps in data.
I offer no opinion on the value of the trade. What I am doing is highlighting that there are assumptions that are being made to judge the trade as bad, and there are logical flaws in those assumptions.
You keep focussing on justification. There is no justification happening from me. I'm arguing logic, not defending what has happened.
So just wondering do all of you believe that Walls acts like a sole trader in these deals, Garlick and co would have a sign off on any trade that happens.Well mate I'm sorry but multiple times you are arguing it's ok for Walls to throw away draft capital because of what he must think of the draft. Your arguments are ridiculous and non-sensical. If you think you can get what you need at a cheaper price, you still maximise the savings, you dont piss the savings against the wall(sy).

I'm sure it's a partly team effort but there's only so many cooks you can have in a kitchen to negotiate. I'm not sure Garlick is signing off trades. Brierty MAYBE but they'll divert to list manager for almost all trades. Might have some scale for a Freo player that needs higher level sign effort. So just wondering do all of you believe that Walls acts like a sole trader in these deals, Garlick and co would have a sign off on any trade that happens.
Nah we knew basically right awayFeel like we didn't know Richmond's F3 was part of the Bolton deal until it was finalised tbh.
Happy to be corrected on that one though.
FWIW the only reason I’m not completely raging is im convinced there has to be a F2 from Brisbane involved, otherwise they have made out like complete bandits if they’ve traded 19 and Stacevich for 16, 22
Unless there isnt something else coming our way then the melting is fine?Yep. Surely we are getting something like a F2 from Brisbane. I'd be shocked if that's not the case. It might even be a F2 and F3. It could even be 2027 picks.
Currently on points value, we are short pick 44 in value while starting with the most premium of the picks involved (i.e. we should be the ones with a points surplus). It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and there must be something else coming our way. The melting over this is crazy.
Unless there isnt something else coming our way then the melting is fine?
As chief melter I have made the point of saying "as the trade stands" and "ill direct anger at Twomey if it changes" many times.Melt tomorrow by all means if that is how it is finalised. But don't melt now when you don't know the final details and logic suggests there is a missing piece to the puzzle.
It may be valuable to people we have to compete withYou're not stating any concrete ideas other than we could have waited. Yep, could have, but we moved now because the opportunity with west coast and Brisbane had a timer.
All the negative comments are predicated on an assumption that 33 is a valuable pick. We don't even know if 23 is a valuable pick. Look at the Chapman draft, nearly every pick was trash.
There was a clear avenue to pick up a known quantity player. We decided to take it instead of waste time trying to pick the bones out of draft points. They are now free to pursue other goals that are unknown to us.

Most of melting has actually been for people justifying it "as it stands"
I saw someone on reddit say "looks like we gave away pick 33 but im not going to melt over something so small"I’m astounded at the mental gymnastics and those attempting to play devils advocate here.
Let’s get the first bit out the way, McVee is worth 23 for sure, actually very pleased with that, how we got 23 though…
Agree with the sentiment there must be something else to this because whatever the **** this deal currently is, is historically the stupidest agreed pick swap deal ever accepted in AFL history. Never has a club accepted less points to downgrade their highest pick. Dont think I’ve ever melted before as I’m a genuine optimist but a switch has been flicked inside of me. This is atrocious and I don’t care how insulting or absurd it is to suggest, but it genuinely feels like Walls has a getaway planned with the family starting this weekend and is just wrapping things up.
What on gods green earth are we doing giving away objective value for the betterment of 1. Our ****ing rival?!? And 2. The recent back to back bloody premiers? What in the actual norf level of trading is this shit?
It’s insulting everyone’s intelligence on here for anyone suggesting this is even close to a fair trade. McVee could be AA for the next 5 years and it’s still a shit trade, probably even worse then because we could have had him through legitimately 15 other ways.
Wallsy should honestly stick to draft and draft alone if this trade goes through as is. Faaaaaaark meeeee
Now everyones being silly! No discussion allowed! We must all just like the OP and turn off comments or GTFO.
I saw someone on reddit say "looks like we gave away pick 33 but im not going to melt over something so small"
I nearly had a ****ing aneurysm
Could i have melted cheese on that shit sandwich please?Imagine there’s 20 sandwiches lined up in front of you.
There’s 5 decent ones. The rest are varying levels of shit.
Would you rather pick 12 of the shit sandwiches or pick 19?
It doesn’t matter. Ultimately he’s accepted this role to lead the trading. In return he gets extra responsibility, probably extra pay, and has to absorb all the criticism. That’s being a leader. So just wondering do all of you believe that Walls acts like a sole trader in these deals, Garlick and co would have a sign off on any trade that happens.
shit-sniffer?You're not a shit-sipper to me Snuff'.
