Port apparently hate this draft with a passion. I can see them parting with pick 48 without too much fuss...chuck em 68 for some nga matching and we walk out of there without too much damage done, and mcvee rebounding off our flank...

We don’t need 48. We go with 19 and another under 50. The last pick will be Whan bid on after 50 so is irrelevant. I think to even take 3 players in ND we still need to move one of Sturt or Carr to the rookie list via delisting and rookie draft listing.

So no real value in 68>48. Plus port won’t do it.

We wait and see if they get a pick at all just in front of 46. Still can’t get my head around why of all things we downgraded 46 to 44 (especially when we basically gave Brisbane 50 for free anyway). If we kept 44 it would make more sense to me overall - even though it isn’t a great deal.

The goal with Brodie is to trade up 46/47 or otherwise get a future pick. Either way it won’t be much as we want his salary off the books.

So Brierty says we have two live picks in the draft. If we are taking a single player as a pick and then Whan we are looking at nothing being worth anything except the first pick and even then - if you've got your mind set on a player, you only need that to be his value.

As I said the trade can't be justified in isolation, but if your thesis is it's bad trade because Walls is an idiot who can't trade the you should shut up. Give us an actual reason.

Its also annoying to have to listen to it because we don't know what the rationale is. If and when we find out then we can have a fresh melt, but in the end it's still melting about a third rounder so ffs shut up. You'd think we'd just drafted Tambling over Franklin.

What will happen is Brisbane will match Annable. It will cost 16, 22 + one of their later picks.

They will then grab 19 off us for a F1 and some of those unused later picks: 43, 44, 50, 55, 67, 78

There’s a reason they have grabbed 44 and 50.

If Annable is bid on at 3 it will cost 16, 22 and 43.

If he is bid higher it will cost more.

Now although Eagles probably have no intention to use pick 2 on Annable, there’s no guarantee they don’t trade it and hence the little bit of insurance with some extra points.

I still maintain something more will come of this initial deal.
