Genghis Blues anyone?I'm not so sure....last time a club focussed on their player being a singer, he turned around and started slinging the F-slur everywhere
Mongolian throat singing on the other hand...
Would you move to Perth for a 1 year contract to play at Peel?Probably won't be my most popular opinion, but we should give Goldstein a year. Can play wafl and help riddle out, play riddle forward and pinch hit, offer him a coaching role aswell. That way if Darcy gets injured we don't have to completely change our structure? Would almost prefer that then take a state league ruck

I think if Jackson or Darcy are out the plan is to have Voss chop out in the ruck so we bring in another forwardWhat happens if Jackson gets injured? Imo our backup should be more of a hybrid versatile ruck. Jackson can play number 1 ruck if Darcy gets injured, but if Jackson gets injured we can't replace him with a dinosaur
Our actual backup in Riddle is alot closer to Jackson than DarcyWhat happens if Jackson gets injured? Imo our backup should be more of a hybrid versatile ruck. Jackson can play number 1 ruck if Darcy gets injured, but if Jackson gets injured we can't replace him with a dinosaur
If we were going to do this on an old bloke I would genuinely rather take the punt on Mason Cox over Goldstein. Fair enough, I was more thinking from a coaching/playing role side of things. Goldy has alot of experience and I think riddle could benefit immensely from playing with him at peel level. Just a one year play till Riddle is readyIf we were going to do this on an old bloke I would genuinely rather take the punt on Mason Cox over Goldstein. yeah true, he would be a much better player coach than Mason Cox. I will be interested to see if Goldy ends up elsewhere, feel he wasn't expecting to play as many games as he did this yearFair enough, I was more thinking from a coaching/playing role side of things. Too old and so is Mason Cox. Not against Knobel if he is available and has improved (noting injuries impacted him in 2024). Really not sure if he is available but does know our team and there is now a no. Ruck spot available for him at Peel so won’t be running around in the reserves. Aiden Riddle playing up forward and having some stints in the ruck.Probably won't be my most popular opinion, but we should give Goldstein a year. We were going to relist him and he was poachedWhat’s with all the love for Knobel?
We let him go and GC let him go.
Should probably only trial 2 of them, need the other trial spots for other types of players IMOToo old and so is Mason Cox. I think scenario one is either LJ or Darcy out and then we pinch hit with either Voss or McDonald. That scenario does fit better with LJ out.
Having an available mature ruckman to be a replacement option for Darcy is what we require. The following names have been mentioned and do seem appropriate for a role that might play 3 AFL games at most during the year (potentially none) but lead the Peel ruck most importantly:
Brynn Teakle - 203cm, age 26, 21 AFL games (Port, North)
Harry Boyd - 199cm, age 27, 1 AFL game (St Kilda)
Hamish Free - 203cm, age 27, 0 AFL game (North)
All three have really dominated ruck at VFL, SANFL and WAFL. Boyd in particular in SANFL and VFL, Teakle in the first half of WAFL 2024 and Hamish Free second half of WAFL 2025 and competitive in the VFL.
Brynn played more up forward for North VFL team but is more suited to ruck.
Get them across for a train on over summer and choose the best one in Feb 2026.
Haven't seen a whole lot of Riddle. He reminds me of Daniel Bandy. Same height and athletic build. Would that be a fair comparison?Aiden Riddle playing up forward and having some stints in the ruck.
I don't particularly want to advocate for Knobel, but what he has as positives include:What’s with all the love for Knobel?

Sounds like that is the case with Boyd and Teakle. If one of them isn’t up to it a few weeks in then make a change and get Hamish Free to trial.Should probably only trial 2 of them, need the other trial spots for other types of players IMO
can only trial 2x players for each free list spot
he probably visited Queensland once so some weird quirk allows his kids to be picked up by any northern club for freeHaven't seen a whole lot of Riddle. He reminds me of Daniel Bandy. Same height and athletic build. Would that be a fair comparison?
Also... did Bandy have any sons? He played 103 games for Freo.
I'm very bullish on Nicholls as KPF depth, if Brissy can win a prem with Morris and Gallop then Nicholls can stand up if neededSeems to be some disagreement on whether our backup ruck should be the best pure, big bodied ruck available (Darcy depth) or someone who can play multiple positions. Personally I choose the latter. If Darcy goes down, I don't think there's anyone available via SSP that would convince us not to have Jackson just be the starting ruck.
Our key position depth is essentially OMac, Draper and Davies (I'm not counting others until they come on). If we can add a 3rd string ruck while improving that key position depth at the same time, that's more useful to me than getting essentially a better Liam Reidy. Maybe you go in the more established pure ruck direction if someone like Nicholls improves out of sight.
Careful, you're in dangerous territory if the AFLW thread is anything to go by2 cox at freo

I think there's general truth here coz more draftees are coming through with already AFL-ready bodies (or at least closer to it than in the past). Not just exclusive to KPFs - draftees are being thrown into more physical roles earlier. But Nicholls specifically was skinny and had an interrupted pre-season, so he's a bit behind the 8-ball. Gallop and Morris were ahead of him strength-wise as draftees, and I imagine didn't have the equivalent pre-season interruptions.I'm very bullish on Nicholls as KPF depth, if Brissy can win a prem with Morris and Gallop then Nicholls can stand up if needed
I think if talls are talented enough then they can play earlier nowadays, it seems to be something that has shifted in the last 6ish years
