Did you see the price West Coast paid for Kelly? We offered more for Kelly, and it had no impact.
If McVee does not want to go to Eagles, then it doesn't matter what they offer.
We simply need to offer Pick 29 and leave it. It is fair offer.
Why do you keep suggesting trades that overvalue McVee? No way am I trading for Adelaide’s F1 if they have Trac they are a top 4 team.Just another thought - If Adelaide trade their F1 to Melbourne what would people's thoughts be on Picks 11 and 29 for McVee and Adelaide's F1.
If the draft is that weak I wouldn't be surprised if we go for it.
If the draft is that weak pick 18 next year could be more valuable than pick 11.Why do you keep suggesting trades that overvalue McVee? No way am I trading for Adelaide’s F1 if they have Trac they are a top 4 team.

Thank god we sold Cerra, Lobb, Hill, Langdon, et al. to the highest bidder not the club they requested. And they had 10 choices so we got great deals on them right! Market forces baby![]()
2023? I agree. He even finished 10th in the Doig that year.It is statistically his best year in basically all categoriss
100% how it works.
Pick will be 35 after free agent compo and Weagles welfare pick.
We may need to do an upgrade on a later pick.
FWIW think West Coast just puts pick 20 on the table.
Pick 25 or whatever it ends up being after FA compensation isn't an unreasonable price for McVee.
All it does is ensure we need to upgrade or add something extra to our second rounder and as I've said heaps of time already I've got no issue with it given:
- I think McVee is worth it.
- I don't think we're taking anymore than three picks and don't think Whan is truly in the conversation to go before our third rounders.
In an ideal world we can do third round pick swaps with Carlton and Port (only 3-4 upgrade each) and keep Richmond's third rounder. I fear Carlton might have too much else going on though and as they'd be the first pick swap that probably puts Port Adelaide's third rounder out of reach.
Why are you so obsessed with over paying for McVee? He’s not worth a first rounder so why pay one for him? Our 2nd rounder is fine or some late steal knives if Melbourne push hard.Just another thought - If Adelaide trade their F1 to Melbourne what would people's thoughts be on Picks 11 and 29 for McVee and Adelaide's F1.
If the draft is that weak I wouldn't be surprised if we go for it.
Didn’t Cerra actually go to Carlton because he did want to do the right thing by Freo and Carlton had best offer?
In what world is swapping a F1 for a first rounder paying a first rounder? Why are you so obsessed with over paying for McVee? He’s not worth a first rounder so why pay one for him? Our 2nd rounder is fine or some late steal knives if Melbourne push hard.
The Langdon deal is the test case and they can’t even blame us for Jackson considering our slide the following year.
Henry another deal and he had a much better last season than McVee. Melbourne can have pick 29 or our F2 if they are worried about dilution this season compared to next year.
I'd wager for Brad Hill we did, without him leaving we don't get Serong and Young.Thank god we sold Cerra, Lobb, Hill, Langdon, et al. to the highest bidder not the club they requested. And they had 10 choices so we got great deals on them right! Market forces baby![]()
Well we get one of themI'd wager for Brad Hill we did, without him leaving we don't get Serong and Young.
McVee is worth around a mid-second round pick in a normal draft with no priority pick or free agency compo bs. That 29 will easily fall to 35+ by the time it can be used, and in a supposedly weak draft, which will be Melbourne's argument. I can see where they're coming from in all honesty - I'd want us to do the same.
Bottom line though is that he's out of contract and wants to go home. Melbourne have no bargaining power, so unfortunately for them, they will eventually accept unders for what Judd's actually worth - just like what we did with Langdon. Them's the brakes sometimes.
It should be 29 (now 30 with WC's charity hamper) plus maybe a swap of some later picks. He's a young player who's shown some good signs, not a star's value by any means.
Pick 11 for a F1 of the team who finished too of the ladder is close to a late first in value at best. I would swap our F1 for Adelaide but only because I like to gamble, I wouldn’t swap our pick 11 for our F1 or any of the teams who finished in the top 8.In what world is swapping a F1 for a first rounder paying a first rounder?
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the club thinks the F1 is a better draft pick.
Two (Allen compo)WC have five picks ahead of us if we don't have pick #11. If we keep our first, it's one pick ahead.
It's pick 3. But still.... what a **** up by North. Richmond now have picks 2 & 3.North paid an F1, which is now pick 2 to get a pick in the late 20’s last year.
