Back by popular demand. However...

There has been some aggro from publishers of articles in recent months about sites that copypasta their content onto other sites, particularly the paywalled ones, which could lead to fines and whanot for those that do it. Apparently there are copywrite laws for these things. As a result we can no longer have full articles reposted here, so if you come across something then please refrain from nabbing the whole thing and just post the link. Quoting a paragraph or two and linking the source is fine however, just don't get greedy.

Here's the updated site-wide rule: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/please-read-re-copyright-posting-newspaper-articles.1389553/

Here's an example of what you can do:

"If West Coast was the gold standard for how to operate, then Fremantle's arrival into the AFL in 1995 could be viewed as a series of cautionary tales.

Despite eight wins in that debut season, a series of poor recruiting choices meant they didn't play their first final until 2003."

If they believe that us not making finals until 2003 was solely due to "a series of poor recruiting choices" then I have a bridge to sell them.

Thanks for your understanding.

Not according to what I read
Straight from the aflpa website

Every AFL player is asked to nominate the three teammates they deem worthy of the Leigh Matthews Trophy. In stage two of the voting process, players are asked to select their MVP from the list featuring three nominees from every club. However, players can’t vote for their teammates in stage two.

AFL.com.au on J.Camerons Coleman:

"The Cats star's winning margin of 14 ahead of Ben King (69) is the biggest since Brisbane champion Jonathan Brown (77) finished 14 ahead of Hawthorn's Lance Franklin (63) in 2007."

Pretty sure the runner up was someone else on 72...

No they are correct about Franklin being second, they just have a typo. He kicked 73, not 63.

Take this with a full tablespoon of salt as Darcy Moore was named CHB in this team, but Champion Data - on raw stats alone - had just one Freo player in the team, Jackson on the bench.

Champion Data can’t be ignored soon enough by the widespread footy public. They are a joke

I've long felt this way about the squiggle...

I think squiggle has value, but like all stats it is how you use them that matters.

It obviously over rated Bulldogs as they scored so highly vs bottom 8 sides, and then under rates us a fraction because we don't put sides away.

It still has a lot of value.

I found it interesting going through the individual model outputs, there's only a couple that didn't have Western Bulldogs high in their power rankings, and both of those had Freo very low.
Made me intrigued by what they were valuing.

I feel like these models over value points for tbh
