Back by popular demand. However...

There has been some aggro from publishers of articles in recent months about sites that copypasta their content onto other sites, particularly the paywalled ones, which could lead to fines and whanot for those that do it. Apparently there are copywrite laws for these things. As a result we can no longer have full articles reposted here, so if you come across something then please refrain from nabbing the whole thing and just post the link. Quoting a paragraph or two and linking the source is fine however, just don't get greedy.

Here's the updated site-wide rule: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/please-read-re-copyright-posting-newspaper-articles.1389553/

Here's an example of what you can do:

"If West Coast was the gold standard for how to operate, then Fremantle's arrival into the AFL in 1995 could be viewed as a series of cautionary tales.

Despite eight wins in that debut season, a series of poor recruiting choices meant they didn't play their first final until 2003."

If they believe that us not making finals until 2003 was solely due to "a series of poor recruiting choices" then I have a bridge to sell them.

Thanks for your understanding.

On form.. Josh Dunkley would be a good fit

I think originally he was miffed he wasn’t asked to be involved when Freo started (not as a player rather some form of coaching). It really went off the rails when he stated that Ross the Boss was speaking to Collingwood to coach them at the time Lyon had a spot on 6Pr every week talking to Hardie. Apparently Lyon rang him and tore strips off him and refused to ever go back on PR (it wasn’t true re Collingwood imho).
Overall though it doesn’t take much to get under his skin. Not being invited to the Western Bullies centenary speaks volumes too. He won a Brownlow there after all.
He had a massive spat with John Worsfold live on 6PR. I can’t remember the specifics but Hardie tore into him during the year after a loss in their usual Monday night coach interview (think it was the last year of Woosha’s tenure). Woosha got really fired up and from then on refused to go back on the radio for the usual Monday evening coaches night.

That was way back in 2008 after that Geelong game where Bomber Thompson was munching on bread roll sandwich in the coaches box during the game cause they were about 100 points up half way through the 3rd quarter.

"why didn't you do something Woosha, if he was being tagged why didn't you try and get a two on one blah blah blah" (this was an argument about Daniel Kerr being tagged and Hardie saying Kerr should have then tagged Gary Ablett)
"that's something every coach knows...you've never played in premiership Brad"
"oh, so now you're having a go at me. I did play in a premiership at South Fremantle...I busted my guts at Footscray in a preliminary final trying to get there etc"

The last time I heard Hardie on radio it was in preview to the WB vs Freo game and aftermatch summary. He was excessively confident that the Bulldogs would win because Beveridge would fix what he got wrong the first time and shut down Serong with a tag and that Fremantle were lucky in the previous game because Bontempelli hadn't played - so he got some blowback after the match and doubled down by shouting down callers, that Bulldogs have the better list, that they've already got plans in place to fix their defence next season with Jack Silvagni (WRONG!), and some personal stuff about Longmuir mumbling through press conferences - and I guess he's pretty happy we didn't progress further, though he said we would beat Gold Coast which wouldn't mean anything because we'd get knocked out the 2nd week.

I don't know if he's currently not welcome at the Bulldogs, as I think I heard him mentioned something along the lines that he was at their training the previous week.

Don't value his opinion but I think it's probably theatrical, like his ongoing Malthouse feud which seems to have finished now. Keeps stuff going so people will tune in.

My memory is that there was another fallout with Worsfold during their 2010 Wooden Spoon season and Justin Longmuir as an assistant coach did some of the Q&A's with Hardie, and Worsfold would only do them with Langdon.

What is Issac Smith saying in The West.. need one or two players.. would have loved him at his best.. he killed us in the 2013 GF
:cry:.I can still see him running towards the right HF flank and unloading that 60 metre kick that sealed the game.
We were in with a big chance before he did that. Took the wind out of our sails.

It was a set shot wasn't it - after a mark when the ball got turned over forward of our centre. But the distance is about right.

I can still hear the hawthorn crowd revving up around me as he was winding up :(

We are not cheering for membership numbers and financials.
We are cheering for a premiership

Anyone been to one of these before? I know it says you get a photo with a player but it’s a non signing event, but is that strict or will the boys still sign a footy or jumper if asked nicely?

I been to 4 of them. If you buy the merchandise on the night they will sign it. We have taken some photos and asked for it it be personalised with a name without a problem. Not sure how you would go with a jumper or footy.

Just saw Luke Jackson and his girlfriend courtside at the Perth Wildcats game. Kelsey was wearing sunglasses, which is an odd choice for a night game. 😂

The roof was open and a bit of glare around in the hour or so before the game started but yes it was dark during the game so a bit strange. It seemed a thing wearing glasses. Damien Martin and his commentating colleague were doing the glasses thing.
