My MPM team for my fellow MPM enjoyers. Almost definitely going into R1 with this team, subject to rookie changes. Is there any obvious mid pricers I'm missing?

I have a pretty similar team.
Same forwards and structure.

Main difference is I’m running Flynn at R2 and have Sheezel instead of English I just think he averages more

Also have Cam Mackenzie because I can’t quit those 300k players they are my happy place

jdstorm also have had Cam Mackenzie in my side til last night. He looked lively.

Changed him to Washcroft @M5 who might then change to Petracca.

Can easily sideways to any of those 3 with a correction trades boost when on the bubble from a dead rookie.
I will boost to get some Low BreakEven Midpricers with 95+ averages. Go backward to go forwards later on.
Just Need More Data!!

M4 & M5 seem to be the hardest for me to lockdown Risk/Reward.

Can’t and won’t do Short down the back, on my Never Again List. He is a second half Houdini.

The more I refine my team - the more I'm leaning towards midpricers :D

I've got 11 now, anyone with more in your proper team?
If I play my super risk side which I just completed I have 14 Midpricers with one on Ruck Bench.
Could bump the count to 16 if you consider SPP and Tsatas who have played before as Bottom end Midpricer’s.

Only one 18/19 year old onfield sitting in Flex.

Its so filthy I could sledge myself for attempting such a play.

I think I may play such a side just to see what happens.

No risk no reward.

What’s worked for me the past few years is load up on the 250-350k guys at the start then when 2 fail you combine your correction trades and your first upgrade.

In terms of risk reward I find that’s the safest way to go. Think correcting between midpricers is quite risky

I don’t love being in the 350-500k range but there’s so much value here this year and with the extra trades meaning less keepers are needed then ever that I think it’s the only sensible way forward.

Edit: given the giants round 2 bye I might wait on Callaghan and short a premo into him or do a first upgrade for round 3 a few early rookies and a boost probably gets you there

If you want some GWS guys or any early bye players just get them.
Best 18 helps here.

I have been trying to work out what a trade is worth with respect to both points and dollar value, keeping in mind when you want to use them or when you will need them.

I think in rounds 2-5 you can afford to miss 2 midpricers or premo’s eqch round versus using a trade.

Reason is you may need those trades to sideways a rookie to a higher Breakeven player or a correction trade or!even touch wood an injury trade.

i think it is more important to have your team set up for the round 6 to 11 upgrade season entering the byes pre-primed.
With a plan on which guys stay or are stepping stones, like your 2 x $350k upgrade idea which can work it just needs the right $123k rookie who is ripe.

Re Callaghan I think it’s just a great way to potentially steal an extra premium. But yeah at 400k starting him is looking like a good option especially now

Absolutely agree.

With 5 of last seasons top 10 mids currently under injury clouds or just out.
Taking some risks on some breakout players or fallen premo’s is the way.

Wait for the ubers to fall to $550k then make a decision.

Just as an exercise I made a team that has this as a midfield, and I think I can work with the sacrifices on other lines as they don’t deviate too much from my base plan team.

Hoping 2 players get DPP and can upgrade the spots they open up.

Looks great but I reckon it is at least worth having FOS, Tsalada and Lash on field as their rookie scores will more than likely be respectable to good...and there's NOD and Kneeknocker.
But you do you because all of the above rooks may just fail :)

It’s not my real side.

It was just an exercise with price ranges and the effects on other lines.

Real side is more fixture and bye affected based.

One thing with this side as jdstorm was saying above, correcting bad picks or moving sideways is just so easy with midpricers.

You would have to see the whole side to get a better scope on the ideas I am working with.

It will either be boom or bust.

And I can cope with that as long as it isn’t cookie cutter.

My mids RN are

Dawson Day Oliver Ashcroft Cera Callahan Mackenzie and Tsatas with Ashcroft at Flex and FOS on the bench

although swapping out Dawson for a premo ruck and having another rookie mid on field might be better
I am guessing L.Ashcroft as flex not Washcroft.

Dawson, Day, Callahan and Oliver fit nicely for a finished side from M9 to M5.
So if I started any of them they would be season keepers.

If I was going to sacrifice one to upgrade elsewhere it would be MacKenzie first then Cerra even with the Blue’s good fixtures (injury history based).

Love the line and price ranges.

I have gone no JHF or Rankine to get my lunch money for Rucks.

If Dawson is the guy you want to sack. Go and be the hatchet man.
I would rank him and Oliver as High order keepers at reduced prices.
Think both are good for 110+ season long with less low games (sub 80’s) barring injuries.

Washcroft is surrounded by many point takers Neale, Zorko, Dunkley and probably his brother and Cerra has some injury history.
That would be my reasoning for those two before Dawson.

Sort of repeated myself with too many tabs and threads open I forgot what I was saying.

yeah LAshcroft is Flex. The way things are right now Flex is going to be a rookie and will be that until upgrade season is over.

I consider any player that can make 150k a rookie so I consider Mackenzie a player I’m far more comfortable with having then Cerra/Washcroft/Day/Perryman. I hate shopping in that range

Because they have to be keepers where as your 300k guys can either be keepers or cash cows

I think the extra trades we have this year and lack of 300k options make taking a chance on these guys more nessecary. Even if I don’t like it

The 400k guys don't have to be keepers.
Make 100k, decent pick, straight swap to a premo.
Average 90-100 and last until your last upgrade they are gold.
40 trades and boosts again.

What happened to the peatling fanboys?

Have we gone cold in the Light of Day and Finnsanity
Too many mouths to feed in the Crows midfield.

Peatling is good, more then good but the fail coach will play Crouch in his position far to often.
I can't think of a defensive mid that averages 100.
Maybe Rowell he gets a bunch of tackles but I wouldn't really call him defensive
It's the sort of role coaches give to failed first round picks.
