We don't have offensive mids. It's Steele who does everything defensive, Windhager might do a tag and the rest are shit, lol
In my mind a defensive mid covers the back of the stoppage and racks up tackles so the better mids can stream forward knowing they have coverage.
Most clubs play one at times.
That seems to be the Perryman and Peatling roles.
The reason there is confusion what one is, is because as a general rule there crap.

Callaghan is a better bet than Perryman. Agree or disagree?

I’m comfortably in the Callaghan camp. His role look's fantastic. GWS need him full time in the middle. They’re surprisingly shallow in there. He looks thoroughly capable of averaging 100-105.

Perryman will likely still make some money, but enough to make it worthwhile? Perhaps not. I’m just not sure he’ll ever be a big SC scorer. I see him more in the mold of a Brady Rawlings or a Liam Shiels type. Functionally really good footballers in a real world sense, but maybe just never quite SC relevant. Even as a defender this year, still not sure he finishes in the top 10 scorers

Agree that all things being equal Callaghan is a better bet than Perryman. But imo the dearth of defensive rookies necessitates selecting Perryman over Callaghan if it’s one or the other, because Perryman + a good mid rookie is going to score better than Callaghan and a dead def rookie.

Hard to compare. Defender vs Midfielder. We have **** all decent options down back so Perryman appeals greatly. Keen to see Callaghan for another week. Hardly anyone was interested 8 hours ago now everyone is drooling off the back of one game.

I can't think of a defensive mid that averages 100.
Maybe Rowell he gets a bunch of tackles but I wouldn't really call him defensive
It's the sort of role coaches give to failed first round picks.
Peatling doesn't need to average 100 to be a good pick though.

Can't pick Callaghan as a defender though, so the comparison is moot.

I think Callaghan is the better pick but given the lack of decent def rookies and risks over some def premos perryman is worth having so I'm picking both.

The 400k guys don't have to be keepers.
Make 100k, decent pick, straight swap to a premo.
Average 90-100 and last until your last upgrade they are gold.
40 trades and boosts again.

Personally I just don’t like the value there. I’d rather have a 60 point costing player average 85-95 then an 80point player average 100

It’s far better from a points per dollar amount and generally in line with the better rookies as having a 40 point jump.

I think it’s having 40 trades that makes it viable. Even if they dont improve you can do a 3 for 2 + 1 rookie upgrade trade so it’s not the worst outcome.

What happened to the peatling fanboys?

Have we gone cold in the Light of Day and Finnsanity
He might end up back in my team if Draper is nowhere to be seen. Even if the Draper is the sub I'm scared off Peatling.

MPM baby!!!

11 midpricers - but, it's never enough :p

Why Neale?

I personally don't see any real upside/value in him.
Yeah he'll score well - 110-120 average

Are you thinking early BIG scores?
I'm not starting Flanders, Bont, Butters and Daicos but presumably want them in my final team. Sometimes if you don't grab the super premos first up you end up in missing them. Neale, Brayshaw, Oliver,Cerra and Callahan with 2 180k+ mids.

Midpricers are Taylor as a stepping stone, Freijah plus commons in Roberts, Macrae, Daniel and Flynn Flex. Fielding 6 rookies R1 which include Finn O'Sullivan, Lashcroft. Flex covers the worst.

R2=R4 are best 18 only and my non rookies for each round are 15, 16 and 17.

Hopefully, although fielding rookies after R4 I'll have a better idea of which are the better ones and getting close to culling time anyway.

Cerra is a stepping stone, Oliver and Callahan are probable keepers in the medium term. Day is a tweener, and historically has had durability issues. Newcombe is the Hawk mid who finishes the season well.

My backline is super mid-priced with 3 players between 350 & 440k. Then i got Oliver, Callaghan and Cerra in the mids. Forwards Macrae and Daniels. So i guess thats my whole team bar rucks. Still got to decide on flex, maybe i wont throw TDK in there after all.

Olliepig, Cerra, Macrae, Flynn & Daniel in for me as my side looks a lot less MPM as we gear towards Round 1.

You could probably say that most of those are fallen premos more so than mid pricers - Flynn probably excepted

Having said that, 3 midfield rooks & SPP are bordering on mid price category

Just did a price breakdown of team with a count on players above certain price brackets. Was shocked how MPM my team really is.
This is the numbers.

600k - 2
500k - 3
400k - 5
300k - 7
200k - 3
150k - 6
100k - 5

With only 5 above $500k and 15 in the $200 to $500k bracket, I am strangely happy and settled on this structure.

Hopefully won’t have to use too many 2 down 1 up trades and have more 1 down 1 ups to get to finished side.

Hopefully some of the $300-$500k guys become keepers that would leave heaps of trades to burn baby burn.

200k - 2
150k - 3
100k - 11

Ive got 11 between 100-150k  Yet i feel like they will all play. Knevitt & Kako are 2 there who are basically 150k.

How many is too many mids in that 440K > 490K range?

Clarry
Cerra
Finn
Day
Washcroft

A better question would be how many brunettes is too many?

I just feel like there's a lack of blondes and rangas in my team.

Surely it's gotta burn me at some stage
