Have heard that Harry Kyle is now set to go at Pick 2, but is in discussions with Chelsea on a position on the right wing or a rookie contract at the Lakers. Unfortunately will be unable to attend tonight due to scheduling conflicts with the Milan Fashion Show and the Australian Philanthropy Award Ceremony.
Breaking news, Hary Kyle has signed with R360 and Peter V’Landys is absolutely livid!

The worst case I can see if Kyle at 16 GWS, Carmichael at 20 from WB and then king shortly thereafter.

What I can’t figure out is the deficit we have for every pick that long slides l, basically I want to watch the draft and know when we are “safe” to match all picks and then safe without a deficit.

Does anyone know of a tool that can help with live DVI points updating??

Also if we don’t have a first next year but have a deficit in first round…. How does that work?

Heard a few things today.

Kyle expected to be in top 16 selections (Swans expect GWS to bid).

Sydney are not sure on Carmichael, depends on how other selections fall, chance at the Bulldogs or GWS but if others are available could fall past pick 30.

King may not be called on first night (Still rated internally as the best prospect of the three by the Swans, who believe on talent should be top 10).
So expect us to match Kyle and King with Carmichael a chance for us to pass as we did with Cochran last year

I'm expecting us to match all three.

We will have some backup trades organised and internally rate all three prospects.

I'm not sure its an obviously weak draft. It's just the cream will go to 5 or 6 clubs instead of 11 or 12 as is normal. It's not a strong draft but it's not the black hole a lot thought it might be.

The good recruiting teams will shine in a draft like this one.
Not so much 'weak' but very even across the board.

I am not aware of any existing tracking tool, so wrote one for myself. It is excel with visual basic, you need msoffice 2021 or later to run it. Happy to share it.
Alternatively I can try to publish here our updated status after each trade and bid are done

I was literally mid building the same….

I just sighted Harry Kyle going through the maccas drive through. His order cost $22.70 but he refused to pay. So they called the manager in (meanwhile the queue was literally blocking parramatta road). Harry said do you know who I am - manager said yeah, aren’t you Finn Callaghan ? Harry said nah, but i just went number 1 in the afl draft. Manager said, fair play, food’s on the house.

Was Sam Reid there also by any chance??

Yes please Sahi update on here after each trade if thats a possibiltity

If that's the case, I do not believe it is possible for us to match as we have no first round to fall back on next year 😂
Either that or we match the bid and pass on the rest, picking up the dregs at the end of the draft after all our picks slide to the end. Doesn't sound very enticing really.

I don't know whether it's been posted , but Kirky will present a jumper to our first pick former Swan Paul Licuria doing the Pies

Hazardinho I have further considered your question overnight and I don't think we match a bid in the top 10 for Kyle.

I think there's a possibility we will pass if we think the bid is just too high even outside the top 10. Whether the GWS bid that Cal Twomey has tipped is "too high", I don't know - more likely we will match a bid there. The advantage to not matching is that (a) it keeps other teams on their toes and makes sure that any bids are legit and (b) it avoids us going into deficit and we still get Carmichael and King plus another decent player (e.g. Hetherton, Thredgold, Ludowyke, Rodriguesz etc. etc). It might depend on how confident we are of getting another player we like with our third pick.

I think that where our picks are for tonight gives us options that you don't always have when you are deciding whether to match a bid. It's not like in years gone by when you have traded out your high pick and have a cluster of late picks and the only sense is to match a bid wherever it comes (like it will be for the Suns and Uwland, say). We have three picks in the second round and three players with variable ranges but mostly not top 20. So it would not be crazy for us to let someone go, especially if we don't rate them quite that highly and there are other players who we expect to be available in the second round who we like.

Yes he is a YouTuber but PommyinOz has a great tool that does all of it and is really easy to use. Can also easily input trades. Also I’m on my phone so don’t know how well he link will work

Are we there yet dammit?

I jumped on to see how night one went bugger it all. I thought night one was last night.

Shit.

What kind of fan are you, jumping on the next day and seeing the result of the draft, rather than sitting through 4 hours of waffle for 30 minutes of content. Shame on you MarkP, shame on you.
