This game is yet more evidence of the fact that expected scores provides very limited insight without more context of a particular team's performance on the scoring shots. Dees would single handedly bringing down the score expectancy across the board in the past few years. Some teams simply aren't as accurate as others so you can take it as a way to say a team did some things right if they win ES, but not that they would win this type of game more often than not.

The advantage/non advantage to Neale was laughable. They talked as if it cost them a goal… ok maybe it was line call but they had brought the ball back he still would have been 60 + metres out and no guarantee of anything.

As compared to the lions goal in the first quarter after it should have been a 50 to cox for entering the protected zone… and worse still the 50 against Markov for trying to obey the umpires stand call.

Looking at the ladder if you’re below 10th iits gunna be hard to make finals… and if you’re below 13th you’re probably already toast.

Edit… port in 15th have an extra game up their sleeves so they join stkilda Melbourne and Carlton as “not gone yet but in a lot of trouble”
