Pretty much all results went our way in a big way to give us the best opportunity to win a flag if we are good enough.

Play a Rankine-less Adelaide in a QF to go straight though to a home MCG prelim, but if we lose, we now most-likely play a non-victorian team, and then a likely MCG prelim against Geelong.

Either way we have a road to an MCG prelim. Can’t complain.

Or more likely scenario if we lose, play hawthorn week 2 and if we get over them, Brisbane at the GABBA.

Must win week 1.

If Brisbane aren't the best team in it, then clearly they've got the best depth.

Injuries might have given the rest of us an opportunity.

I see no team has ever won the flag from 4th under the current finals system so we'll have to make history.

We must beat Adelaide otherwise we might cross paths with Hawthorn and Brisbane at the Gabba to just make a GF.

I think 30+ point win roughly would get Gold Coast's percentage above Hawthorn - seeing the Hawks drop to 8th.

What is the tougher assignment? Freo in Perth or GWS in Sydney?

Think the trip to Perth is worse, but GWS are tougher opposition.

Either way, hope Hawthorn are gone first week!

Freo in Perth I reckon. Both tough assignments though. Suck shit Hawthorn

9th has you playing 2 teams from each third of the ladder twice - we did that. Cats finished 4th and played 3 of the top third, 2 from the middle third and 1 from the bottom third. THe AFL doesn't then try to predict who is going to rise and who is going to fall within those thirds.
Hmm I think they take a good stab at it sometimes. Us having our bottom 6 double ups against Adelaide and Melbourne, the two teams most likely to rise, was a stitch up. Given we’ll have a top 6 finish this year you can bet next year our one double up will be against Melbourne again or Essendon. Our top 3rd double ups will include Adelaide and Brisbane. We don’t get a fixturing free lunch unless we finish bottom 6.

A stitch up? Don't tell me you are one of the ones who think the AFL conspires against us? Who is running this nefarious campaign?

Our draw is what it is because we are the biggest drawing club in the land. Pure and simple. It's good for us and good for the competition. Beats being a little boutique club

That's the big influence on our fixturing. If the AFL were so inclined as to try to manipulate the fixture for financial gain, they would give us the big draw games AND give us plenty of easy ones so we make the finals.

Luckily, the AFL ain't that way inclined nor sufficiently sophisticated to be able to manipulate the comp with a clandestine doctored fixture.

The problem is Collingwood fans turn up, so whether we’re winning or not, we create blockbusters.

Teams like Sydney, GWS, Gold Coast and Brisbane need success and need to keep winning or they lose fans.

There is no doubt some teams get better looked after than others with fixturing.

If I was to bet on our double ups next year. It’d be Geelong, Brisbane, Bulldogs/Adelaide, Hawthorn, Carlton, Port/Melbourne.

Could they realistically do both?

I feel like it would be tricky to give us double ups against shit teams while also maximising revenue playing us against the better teams for blockbusters while also maintaining the "locked in" games like ANZAC Day, Easter Thursday, Kings BDay, "Gold Coast School Holidays" etc etc

What part of what I proposed was incorrect? Sure take a shot at the language I don’t really care about that and there’s no conspiracy, but you know I’m right and there’s zero chance we’re getting any of North, Richmond, WC or Port twice next year. As a fan of the 6/6/6 fixturing it still needs tweaking. For instance this years PF should not receive a double up against a bottom 4 team for 2026.
