Ty. Really hasn't played a lot of footy recently, 22 games since 2019. Collecting super or can he make a impact?

I see on the Fairpark socials they were smashed by Bulleen Templestowe in practice matches on the weekend by over 10 goals in 1s, 2s and Under 19s. They might be pretty good in div 4.
Says abit about fairpark aswell though.

Div 3 could be abit of a waste unless oakleigh and maybe Knox pull something out. I can’t see anyone else getting close to donvale. Most clubs seem to have gotten weaker.

What are your thoughts adcock?
I really enjoyed your write ups last year an hoping you do them again. Find them better then the actually efl media team

BT can throw a spanner in the works down there. Their pres has been on the blower every day since the move to former players/juniors who have either left cause they were shite or left for money

The ex balwyn boys should be dominating, even if they spent time in the 2's.

So where will all the Doncaster players end up? Assuming they were in the dark about the clubs position, then there could very well be a few clubs who could really pounce here, Bulleen Temp and Donny East the obvious ones.

Has anyone heard anything in this space?

I’ve heard a few rumours

Surrey Park
Healesville
Donvale
Chelsea (MPFNL) - there’s some connection here - though they’ve just been outed as breaking the cap last year, so they might not get paid!

I tend to agree, a lot of teams have dropped off in div 3 this year. Coldstream, FTG, Fairpark and UFTG all losing key players and will go backwards. Silvan to rise. I think Oakleigh will be similar unless ive missed something with them. Donvale and Knox will fight it out.

Hearing Forest Hill is set to benefit with at least 6 players and potentially more.

If players are joining 4th division clubs it’s doesn’t look like they’d return to Doncaster the following season to play against them in 4th division you’d just stick with forest hill would you not?

Yeah I agree. Its going to be bloody tough for them. Donvale rejoined div 4 a while back and were horrendous for a season or two from memory, But obviously they got the structures right and look at them now.

I give them a 10% of getting back on their feet. Just too many clubs in a AFL uninterested area, only to get worse with how many indians and chinese we are having come in.

Old mentone in the VAFA had a year off and came back without the school assocation, now look to be dead after one year with only one side. Its so tough.

There are so many questions and very little detail. Are they Senior or Reserve Doncaster players? The point system will have an impact. Their bottom line will also take a hit, and my understanding is they aren't flush with cash. The other impact is if you bring in 4 or more players to play seniors, you may have 4 or more loyal players that suddenly find themselves on the outer.

Doncaster didn’t have cash problems, I’m not sure how many times I can say it. This played no part in their demise.

Receiver are you Sam McClure?
Your inability to take this on board will get you a job in the AFL media. 😜
My last post was about players moving to 4th Division. As far as the cash issue goes, it's all speculation and that's what the media does, but they get paid for it. If you know why then enlighten everyone and stop the speculation.

League is desperate to fix Div 4.
Not viable with 6 sides next season so need to add from other leagues (thoughts Bunk?? Lol) or have Nunawading and/or Doncaster return from recess. League income also takes hit without these sides.

Can back you up on the cash theory bobby never been a problem once the dust settles im sure more will be revealed .all i will say ATM is the covid era destroyed the club due to halving the salary cap .my opinion

Doncaster should reach to John Giles (Donvale President). He pretty much single handidly got donvale out of the shit. They need many helping hands which is what he was big on. They obviously also need a culture change which was the biggest thing Donvale needed. But you need Juniors. Everyone knew Donvales 1st year back they were going to be Horrendous. It was a handful of ex- Donvale senior players from Div 2 and the rest were ring ins and battlers, but they just had to survive the 1st year because they had their 5-10yr plan of the juniors filtering into the senior program. At the time they had u/17's, 15s, 14s, 13s all playing in A division. So they knew they had alot of Good youth coming through. And if you look at their squad today, the fruits of their labour all the way back in 2016 is in full show now lead by James Rausa who is amongst the 1st crop of those juniors that filtered through. He's still 26 believe it or not. They have hardly recruited since 2021, they usually run out with 18 1 point players. Park Orchards/Surrey Park the exact same. Gotta have that juniors into seniors right or you'll never jump out the lower divisions.
They cop alot of crap for it but Vermont and Blackburn are the best at it and that's why they're consistently playing finals in all grades

Interesting that just yesterday AFL Vic announced new processes for clubs wanting to move leagues.

The club needs to submit a request to AFL Vic by June 30, having already met with both their current league and prospective league.

Where there is a dispute, AFL Vic will rule with a strong emphasis on objective measures rather than “feelings”.

All in all it’ll be harder to move leagues.

The SFNL are not keen to hand over clubs (they stopped Ashwood and Casey Thunder womens), neither are Outer East. I’m sure the EFNL will look for VAFA clubs that will only cannibalise their own.

Don’t know where the league are going to find four clubs, at this stage they look to be dreaming on Doncaster and Nunawading as the big clubs around the corner have all the juniors.

Not to mention Berwick and Beaconsfield now bring so obviously more suited to SFNL.

Great effort by Donvale and a brave desision to go down that path.
Very brave considering how many clubs choose the short term glory long term pain route.
A team of mercanaries often get the chocolates in a a one year hit and run.

Great post.

The focus for Nuna and Doncaster needs to be on building or adopting a junior club. Even if they’re in recess for multiple years, a strong junior program will see them come back and be more sustainable.

Simply trying to fumble around for six months and find 60 random players isn’t going to end well.
