Richmond will face off against Carlton in Match Simulation Training, and Hawthorn in an exciting Practice Match, ahead of the 2025 AFLW season.

On Friday 25 July at 5pm (AEST), the Tigers take on the Blues at Ikon Park as part of the league's Match Simulation fixtures.
The format, number of players, game length and breaks of the Match Simulation against Carlton will be agreed upon by the two competing teams closer to the date.

The following week, Richmond will take part in an official Practice Match against Hawthorn.

Proceedings are scheduled on Sunday 3 August from 12pm at Ikon Park, with the official team to be named the day before at 5.30pm (AEST).

AFL Executive General Manager of Football Operations, Laura Kane, said the preparation provides Clubs the chance to have a strong hit out before the season proper.

"As anticipation builds towards the start of the AFLW's 10th season, Practice Matches and Match Simulation Trainings provide Clubs with an opportunity to test themselves against their competition ahead of the season officially getting underway on August 14," Kane said.
Additionally, Richmond supporters are encouraged to head along to Ikon Park for a free chance to watch the team against Hawthorn.

"Fans can attend the practice matches for free, so I'd encourage everyone to head along to connect with their new draftees, watch their favourite players and experience AFLW," Kane said.

The Practice Match against the Hawks will be live streamed.

Rather go watch AFLW at Donvale Reserve than bloody Ikon

Only had one good experience there.

11 goals 3 behinds
50 goals kicked by both sides and we won by 39.

Hawks were in their absolute prime. Ayres, Brereton, Buckenara, Dippa, Dunstall, Eade, Green, Kennedy, Knights, Matthews, Morris, Robertson, Russo, Schwab, Tuck, Wallace....

... but we had Michael Roach!

Yep. Only good day at that miserable, dilapidated, poor excuse of a sporting venue.

Fair day out by Disco.

Last time I was there it would have been Princes Park, back in the 70's. Inevitable with both my Father & Brother as Blue through & through, can't say I was ever impressed going there as I had no love for Carlton. The very first game of VFL I ever went to was as a youngster in Rd 6, 73 Blues v Tigers at the G, Tigers won and I never looked back. Got to say I've won a bit of money in family bets in recent times. Ha Ha.

My last time there ,,,,,94 we were making a charge for finals playing the cats , they were 3-4G up on us all day , in last Q we threw everything at em but the kitchen sink , daffy was on fire , the place was a shakin, seriously when we narrowed the gap to like a goal ,,,sadly the cats steadied kicked a couple and won it
