Autopsy 2025 Preliminary Final: Hawks get rolled

Disappointing but also so proud of the boys. There was a couple of times when the Cats got on a roll but we were able to peg back a few goals and stay in it until the last 5-10 minutes of the game.

We got rolled in the midfield after 1/4 time. Newk was always going to find it tough so the other blokes needed to help him out. Nash had a crack but the rest of them didn’t give us much. Not sure if Ward was injured but I don’t remember seeing him in the last quarter.

We will learn a lot from that. Disappointing not to get the win but we have proven we belong in finals footy.

Didn’t handle their pressure a lot of disappointing players tonight.

Sensational effort to win 2 interstate finals.

Too many didn't handle the occasion and lowered their colours and had their worst games this finals series.

Need Merret and Trac or someone in to support Nuke this off season.

So many of our most skilled players were our biggest culprits tonight, some did not handle the occasion

Good effort. Cam with a great game plan to get the jump until they adjusted. Cat's looked stronger over the ball.

Hate them but they we're the better team.

Even worse, Dangerfield was BOG - can't he retire already!!

Umpires cost us dearly in this one. Every single time a goal was scored the umpires took the ball to the middle for a ball up. And we just had no hope of overcoming that.

Very proud of the boys, left everything out there over the last few weeks. Still a very positive season and we went one better than last year, and knocked off two quality sides on the road along the way.

Bring in Day and Merrett/Petracca next year, and get a full pre-season into Lewis and we’re a real shot to go all the way.

Stoked with this season overall and can’t wait for next year! I can feel the draft, that’s how open our window is now. Go Hawks!!

Completely deflated. Bloody proud to get this far but this game has just wrecked me. Staying off social media for a few days - some weird vibes watching grown men instantly resort to bagging out Watson, a 19 year old kid, after we lost from 8th place.

Too many passengers and our midfield totally outclassed. I wish I could be proud right now but at the moment just bitterly disappointed, I'm so sick of losing to Geelong and having Dangerfield ream us once again.

Also can we finally put to bed "We beat them when it counts?". It's pure copium to gloss over the wood they've had over us over the years. We seriously need a line in the sand against this mob.

Disappointing end to a good season. Lacked composure and royally screwed by the umpires again. I @##$%% hate Geelong more than the scum officially.

Any season that doesn’t end in a premiership is a disappointment. For most teams, that disappointment gets felt early in the season when it becomes obvious they aren’t good enough. For us it comes this weekend - it’s always a heartbreak to lose a prelim.

When the dust settles, I’ll feel happy with season 2025. Two away finals wins, and a loss to a well rested Dangerfield.

Clearly, we are short 2 midfielders. That is the missing piece for us and no doubt we’ll leave no stone unturned in the off season to rectify that.

Disappointed that Sammy Butler got sub'd instead of TB. CJ hasn't been great in any of the finals he's played as sub this year - I've got eyes, just like everyone else, but no one armed w/ criticism has been able to nominate a better sub option. Simply dribbled piss. I don't think CJ played well, but i do appreciate that stepping into our game as sub vs GWS would've been super tough, and he at least got involved, which is better than being unsighted.

These dumb **** comments like have a lie down or too many reds w/out any further substance is a poor reflection on the commenter.

Lewis was brilliant 1st half. Assume he ran out of steam in the 2nd. A full season for him and Dear could be brilliant.

I would've subbed Mitch Lewis not butler, I know hindsights 20 20 and he kicked 3 early goals but my gut feeling was he wasn't Guna impact after half time.

Great year, but geez we lack some hard at it players. Our midfield hopefully adds a couple of big midfielders for next year, as we desperately need it.

Yeah I'm going to be that guy. I don't care, I'm just past pretending to be that supporter who is impartial and level headed.

We weren't good enough and our midfield got badly exposed.

But for f**k sake:

• I told my mates before the game that the umps would cuck us and lo and behold - every god damn call went the maggot's way.
• Tackling from our players went with ZERO f**king reward. Danger either somehow got a free kick out of it or he was just allowed to drop the ball for another Geelong maggot to pick up and drop it until they eventually can kick it forward. Its a disgrace. An absolute f**king disgrace.
• But THEN, when OUR players drop the footy - then the w**ker umpires decide to call holding the ball.
• Legal marks that were taken inside 50 were called as free kicks against us.
• Our players were taken high - NOTHING.
• Danger loses the ball illegally and its either not called, counted as a legal disposal OR the most frequent outcome - the umpires manufacture a free kick for him. Yeah no sh*t anybody could look like a world beater if they are protected to kingdom come like that on the footy field.
• Ward (who was poor) was held ALL game as was Battle to stop him from defending Cameron - NOTHING. How are we supposed to win clearances or defend with only one god damn arm??

F**k the Cats, honestly f**k em. No idea how you can live with yourself supporting a team like that where they get away with everything ON and OFF the field.
