Yikes. Two firsts? That’s a lot. He’s good. But he’s not two firsts good, particularly when he’s a free agent the year after.Could offer 2 x 1sts for Bailey
Lions can use for F/S, Academy points
Better then compo they would get next year

Its true, but our first this year probably doesnt get it done.Yikes. Two firsts? That’s a lot. He’s good. But he’s not two firsts good, particularly when he’s a free agent the year after.
No. Last thing we need is another best 22 KPD. We are covered. No one has a best 22 player sitting in the reserves waiting on injuries. That’s what depth is for.We seem to be in that window where we think just one more player will get us over the line
Who that will be I dont know
I think we have 1 or 2 holes holding us back from being elite - yeah yeah we're doing ok
We cant do anything about this year and so we must focus on next year and beyond . And beyond is more important. Tex is struggling and Welsh is a few more years away if ever. If we believe the 3 tall structure is the way to go we need to find somebody to replace Tex
Our midfield is humming along nicely but again will an Oliver be the answer? I have concerns. Not just personal issues but length of contract etc
If he was a 1-2 year recruit ie high end finisher for NOW then sure - but there is too much of the other and we then have to look again in 2028
Our KPD need an extra - and not Petty - Butts and Murray both test the Burgess is elite narrative . Both spend significant time on the sidelines. Sure get them humming and its great but can you trust?
Forward - yes find someone
Midfield - can we do ok with what we have? I dont think we are that far behind others with who we have and if we are talking beyond then I think an Oliver is an overspend
KPD - yes find someone
Our first rounders will effectively be sub pick 20 this year and next (all going well) with F/S and AcademyYikes. Two firsts? That’s a lot. He’s good. But he’s not two firsts good, particularly when he’s a free agent the year after.

Leek Aleer still hasn't re-signed at GWS, wondering whether we are looking at himNo. Last thing we need is another best 22 KPD. We are covered. No one has a best 22 player sitting in the reserves waiting on injuries. That’s what depth is for.
At this stage, we have had to leave an AFL quality KPD in the reserves when the team was fully fit. Butts had to wait for the Murray injury then came in and did a great job.
We have Borlase as KPd depth. If you tell me we need one more developing KPd then fine - spend a third round draft pick on one.
If it did end up that way, I could prob deal with it.Our first rounders will effectively be sub pick 20 this year and next (all going well) with F/S and Academy
So say pick 23 and 26 for Bailey = not so bad when looking at it that way
Geez I hope not...Leek Aleer still hasn't re-signed at GWS, wondering whether we are looking at him
Wouldn't underestimate the damage Oliver's done to his body as well.Been saying it a while
I think we will approach Melbourne again re: Clayton Oliver and push a cheap salary dump deal
- get him for a 2nd round pick
- they wear 30% minimum of his deal
Clarry gets back into a good environment , has a crack at winning another flag, Burgess fitness program gets him back to his gut running best
A midfield of
Dawson, Rankine, Soligo, Peatling, Oliver , Curtin = A grade
Wouldn't underestimate the damage Oliver's done to his body as well.
Even with Burgess helping him and being in a better environment, don't see him ever getting back to his best, physically and mentally.
he’s as good as he’s going to beGets killed by his parents ???Comes across flaky too, great when they are flying but when backs against the wall does his best Madeline Mcann impersonation
He's going to port and once again they'll pay **** all in draft capitalNWM would've signed already if he was staying at St Kilda.
I watched him v Geelong, he was mostly pretty good. You don’t want him kicking tho.Geez I hope not...

I’d argue this image works against Oliver. A lot of risk bringing in someone who would be rated as our fourth best midfielder.
Redman really goes down in the Petty and Oliver files as a bullet dodged given the price we were reportedly willing to pay for him.

Question is.... would Melbourne do it ??He's signed until 2030 on maybe $1 million per year or whatever.
The original offer the poster suggested was absorbing that contract with maybe a 30% discount for a 2nd rounder.
I don't see any issue bringing in Oliver on $700k for 4 years even if he's our fourth best mid
Look, I’d still bring in Oliver for the right price, I just don’t think that price is as cheap as some are expecting. Yes, Melbourne are probably entering a rebuild. But by that same virtue, they’re going to enter a period where they have decent salary cap wriggle room and can probably afford Oliver’s contract. He's signed until 2030 on maybe $1 million per year or whatever.

Since this thread title came in our list management has been elite. Don't jinx it!Can we change the title of this thread from 'Mis-management' please moderator?
I think most people would agree that our list management over the last few years has been excellent.
It just seems childish - yuk yuk, we're shithouse - we're absolutely not. Not any more.
Have there been any list management decisions made since the threat title came in, other than a few contract extensions?Since this thread title came in our list management has been elite. Don't jinx it!
We've invested in pick 4 last year. Dawson, Rankine, Soligo, Peatling, Draper, Curtin = A gradeBeen saying it a while

It was two years ago that the "tradition" started I thinkHave there been any list management decisions made since the thread title came in, other than a few contract extensions?
Yeah this is it for me. Can Draper come on and become an upgrade on Berry/Crouch next year? Not to the same extent as Oliver, but there’s enough chance he can that I’d rather save the long-term salary space and back him. We've invested in pick 4 last year.
