Nick will be fine. Every loss is a massive disaster and every win doesn't mean anything has been a constant narrative.

The reality is that he has build an attacking plan, a possession plan and a tight team defence during a ground up rebuild. I never claimed he never makes mistakes or that he is the messiah. However, the level of irrational analysis is peaking.

It takes 2 or 3 finals campaigns to see consistently strong finals performances.
The Crows can keep building on this year's success. But the reactionary bullshit is old and tired...

The performance wasn't good enough. The players and coaches will learn and we move on.
Why does Nicks have to learn and what do you mean he “will be fine”?

You said only yesterday that the coaching was fine after I asked you for your opinion on the coaching. What did he get wrong against Collingwood?

6 years to make the finals
6 years to win a final
6 years to a flag

We need to stop panicking, be patient and enjoy Niicksy's 18 year plan.

Everyone keeps learning the longer you do something. If you stop learning, you stagnate.

The point is were are EXACTLY at the point we expect for this stage of team development. A team on the up easily dispensing the bottom half of the ladder and having trouble when against those contending for finals.

We had a mass exodus/clean out when Nicks started. From bottom to finals with a list he has been involved in developing, he must be doing something right.

I'm not contending he's perfect or that I agree with all things he has done. When you zoom out and look at the progression, he'll be fine.

He's on a hiding to nothing whenever he does something, no matter what. When we had that game vs Collingwood where we stormed back (9 goals iirc) in the 3rd quarter after having a diabolical 1st half, we started to see his attacking plan. Then there was a lot of noise that our defence was problematic and we could only win shootouts with lesser sides. He clearly over-reacted defensively last year, but on the whole we have had a good defensive system this year, falling on the winning side of some ugly close games. Ones that we previously lost.

Even that's not good enough. I mean Collingwood have been proclaimed geniuses for winning close ugly games. Yet when we tough one out, "oh we shouldn't have let them get so close".

One of the biggest obstacles to our own success is the over-reacting fan base. We lose, and there is a culture of having to be the 1st and the loudest to call for sackings. Sometimes, the moment things get difficult. Great clubs work though difficult periods, not spit the dummy and throw the toys out of the cot.

Hopefully means we have more cash for a mid.
Media reports throughout the season had us targeting 3 players - Wanganeen-Milera, Draper, and Callum Ah Chee. NWM re-signed with St Kilda. If Draper goes to Brisbane, then that leaves only Ah Chee.

** That's not to say they don't have other irons in the fire, but these are the only players who have been widely linked to Adelaide in the media.

Well aware. Hoping for the latter. I don't think organic growth improves us enough for next year, Ah Chee aside.

One of the biggest obstacles is the reacting fan base? I’ve heard it all. Not the coach who in his 6th year continues to make stupid mistakes, ie selecting Murphy for so many games, playing 9 defenders in a final, allowing a Collingwood spare leading to Moore taking the RECORD number of intercept marks in a final, let that sink in. A game where you said Nicks coached “fine”. Face it no matter how ****s up you’ll back him in.

For months now you’ve been on his bandwagon, telling me I was “wrong”. I said wait for finals, first audition and it was a fail.

As for our win against Collingwood, there were clearly concerns, even identified by Nicks, you can’t let a team have 71 inside 50s and not be concerned.

To be fair, we corrected the inside 50 differential and also evened up the clearances so that was corrected. It was structural in game as you say, Moore being allowed to do what he wanted was a shocker. Also leaving Bond on Elliot was a disaster as he is their best forward and you had Max back in the side. There were learnings and adjustments made, its just that Collingwood benefited from other c**k ups made by the coaching panel.

Still, they will right the ship this week by bringing back Murphy to add firepower to the forward line.....

Add not taking the game on, relying on kick down the line which Collingwood love. Our first switch 12 mins into the second quarter says it all.

Din't discount the Collingwood pressure.. I can't recall once in the entire game where we transitioned from defence down the ground to having a set shot for goal. They pressured the crap out of us all game and did not let up. It shook us and we didn't react to it and as such as you say, long down the line kicks and not taking the game on because of the pressure.
